That's super interesting. Tell us more.
OK I'm a touch busy right now hence my short comment, I'll make this quick
I have suffered Windows for many years and now that Linux has evolved so much I have decided to get into using Linux as there is no way I am running Windows 10 on my machine
I haven't got time to post about Windows 10, it is up to individuals to read up on Windows 10 and understand what they are getting into
There is now a massive choice of very good Linux OS's

Apple actually do a UNIX that's perfectly good. All Macs run it.
UNIX is pure, UNIX is beautiful.

Windows 10, on the other hand, is massively useful. Microsoft have nailed it, IMO, and I'm primarily an Apple user.

Pure, oh yes. Definitely. Just checking if you're referring to POSIX? Or BSD? AIX? HP/UX? Any particular flavour of Linux? wink

Back on topic, Creator installed this morning. The machine rebooted. Nobody died, my photos weren't sent to the CIA (any more than usual, anyway), can't actually tell any difference. Bit of a non-event really (which, by the way, is the highest praise that it is possible to give an OS upgrade).

I don't game on the PC - it only gets to play kids stuff like Roblox, but it seems to have gone from crashing out at 1920x1080 to running full screen on my new 2560x1440 monitor. CPU and GPU showing flat usage rather than spiking and dying.

So far, so good. Struggling to spot any other changes in truth. I played with Paint 3D for about three minutes.

I work on industrial automation projects that are deemed Critical National Infrastructure (road, rail, water, power etc). No one will entertain hobbyist OS's like Linux. If we suggested Linux we'd be laughed off major projects.

I'm not sure if your comment is serious - however I think you'll be surprised to learn just where Linux is used in certain government departments.

It's usage in important strategic areas is far more widespread than you might think.

I won't knock Windows though as I use it myself - Linux doesn't suit some things, Windows doesn't suit others - it's nothing new really.

It would be nice if just once a topic like this didn't descend into yet another OS argument...

Exactly, both have their uses and I feel that Linux is much more secure and updates better than Windows, it could still all end in tears though as it's relatively new to me

Found my first issue.

Installed the update on my HTPC and now I have no audio over HDMI, doesn't even show in the control panel.

I reinstalled my AMD display driver and it returned and worked as normal but when I rebooted it had gone again.

They've finally fixed the scrolling issue in some desktop applications on the Dell XPS! Probably the best thing about the entire update.

I wonder if I can now sign into Wifi networks that require a logon...

So has anyone else noticed that Cortana is always listening now and can't be fully disabled?

A couple of times she activated without input from myself then I realised she was responding to what sounded like "hey cortana"

Have you tried ShutUp10? I don't have the Creators Update though.

There is a way to disable Cortana by making a registry entry - I can't remember how I did it though! I'm sure someone else on here will know. They did away with the easy way to disable Cortana a while ago, I suppose because so many people were disabling it.

I ran the update last Sunday. It all but killed the interface with my Logitech wireless keyboard, so I switched to an Andersson (Swedish make), that was fine but of course it had the Swedish layout and that mucked up the interface with a crucial bit of translation software. So I swapped both keyboards for a Microsoft one and - even that has its laggy moments! But it's better than the Logitech, so heyho.

Net gain: 0. There's not even anything in the update that's of any use to me - I'm not quite sure why I bothered, really. frown
