I was able to repartition the whole drive into a single partition
Better to use a separate partition for Windows & programs imo, then you can limit system restore to system files and just reformat it leaving your data intact when (not if) you have to rebuild.TonyRPH said:
I've set them up like that for years - best way IMHO.
You then use D: for all your data, which enables you to upgrade / re-install Windows on C: without losing data.
As for the lost password - there are several bootable images out there which would have blanked the password - could have been fixed in minutes without installing that POS called Windows 10.
All well and good if you actually use D: If, however, you accept the default assignation of C: every time you install something, so there's about 2 meg of space left on it, and you're the dipsy blond sort that forgets your password, but sets the hint as "I don't need hints", then when you ask someone to "wipe it and put that new Windows on" that's exactly what you're going to get.You then use D: for all your data, which enables you to upgrade / re-install Windows on C: without losing data.

Used to be a very good idea to move the users folder to D:\. Since Win8 it's not, e.g.

In any case, I'm sure you can use the Folder Redirection policy to relocate Documents etc. to another drive.
I certainly did it with group policies in my last job, as all user folders were redirected to a network drive.
MS have shown a 'Fluent Design' UI, which may be part of the next 'Fall Creators Update'. It looks like a cross between Google's Material Design and the UI from the Bryce 3D modelling software (remember that?) where everything was 3D and shadows, except that this is actually 3D and shadows. https://thenextweb.com/microsoft/2017/05/11/window...
Interesting to see how it will get on with actual use, multiple apps and running an a lower end PC.

Some days I think they ran out of real things to do around NT4. Since then it's been change for change's sake and burning more CPU to keep Intel afloat.
Apple have been doing the same thing with OSX for years - you just imagine the conversation amongst developers: "We have more CPU and graphics than we not what to do with, let's come up with ways to Some days I think they ran out of real things to do around NT4. Since then it's been change for change's sake and burning more CPU to keep Intel afloat.
I'm all for progress, but most of what's being done in the O/S and UI is just for the sake of change now, and doesn't really bring anything great IMHO.
Also - regarding the Windows 10 UI - they have been striving to unify the 'look 'n feel' across all Windows devices (desktop / tablet / mobile) which is why Windows 10 looks so bland and has so few customisations.
It has to look the way MS want it and that's it.
As for the video on the page linked to in the previous post - I couldn't watch it. I was reminded of channel 4/5 (whatever) where it's a case of "let's see how many images we can flash across the screen per second in this preview".
6 months on and another update.
My PC and laptop have just finished installing Windows Creators Fall Update. Everything worked. It does count up to 100% at least 4 times. 100% complete ! And now for the next thing. 100% complete ! And now for the next thing ! And so on.
Still, nothing broken that I can see.
