A while ago I was forced to migrate to Outlook.com and Exchange to continue integrating my Windows Phone, Outlook on the web and Outlook desktop.

When I set it up, it automatically set up a second account in Outlook 2010 with duplicate diary, contacts email, the whole lot. Which I didn't want, really, so I ignore it.

However whenever I open Outlook, or another app sends an email via Outlook, it defaults to the new account. The emails it sends tend not to be received and those that are received cannot be replied to.

The new account has as an address about 20 random characters@outlook.com

When I log into the online MS account with the new account details there are no emails waiting.

It's all a bit of a mess and it's making my head spin. Can anyone assist please?

No idea really but I thought I'd just barge in
Is it the default address thing that's under account settings email accounts and both the e mail and data files you want have to be set as the default ?

I think the XYY12345etc@outlook.com is the default for data send and receive, but Outlook is trying to use that for an email address too.

Thanks, but I am using Outlook 2010 and that site appears not to cover that version.

To be honest I am pondering moving away from MS because they seem to increasingly causing me problems (like this).

go to Control Panels = > Mail (32)

Under profiles create a new profile, this should clean up Outlook.

Still struggling with this.

When MS dictated that I could no longer use my own email address for Outlook.com and had to use Exchange, Outlook 2010 set up a new and parallel account - the top one in the image below. Outlook tends to default to this account.

It seems to work OK for calendar, contacts and the like. However, I don't seem to be able to use it for email. If I send anything to myOutlookaddress@outlook.com it doesn't arrive. If I send an email from that account in Outlook it doesn't arrive usually.

I am thinking that in the end I need to delete my old account. I'd prefer to be able to hide it, so that I can search back through old emails when needed.

Can anyone suggest how I can get email working on the new account and ideally merge the two accounts please?

In the end I may need to get someone in to sort this. I have other things to do besides this. Who am I looking for a Microsoft accredited bod of some sort presumably?
