Hi, I know this will be something simple.

When I do a google search through the URL bar it goes through google.ru. I want it to go through google.co.uk.

When I first installed the browser I had a VPN in place that was set to a Russian IP (there's a site I log onto that makes you answer a load of security questions if you have a non-Russian IP)

Now (like normally) the VPN is off, but I've tried setting it to a UK IP with no change.

Anyone know what I can do? Windows 7 Pro 64 bit, fully updated

I think I've done that - and then used CCleaner to delete all browsing data etc to make sure. Nothing changed

Do you have 'Opera Turbo' enabled?

I think that uses a proxy / cache to speed up browsing, and it selects a random server, which in your case could be based in Russia?

Just a random guess...

Yes, I have been using that!

I'll try turning that off. I hadn't thought of that at all

[Edit: Too late, see you've already sorted it.]

Try shutting down Opera, locating the 'Local State' file (in your User Profile folder) and renaming the file to something else.

On restart, Opera should create a new Local State file with UK settings.

If the above has unwanted side effects, simply shutdown Opera, delete the new Local State file and rename the original back.

Can't try it myself as I don't use Opera but might be worth a go.
