I'm trying Imgur

That's nothing to do with inline linking, that's everything to do with you deleting it.

Yes I deleted it, just testing it and seeing about making pictures private but being able to hotlink images.

I think you misread. I read it as "reach out" in the sense of "extend to".
Makes no difference. It's a cringeworthy 'team talk' phrase used by 18 year old recruitment consultants in an attempt to sound cool.

Anyway, back to Photobucket. Maybe you guys could take your Facebook discussion to a separate thread?
Quite right. Fail to see how the two things are in any way relevant to each other. Photobucket was until a month ago an allegedly permanent way to display pictures to like-minded individuals. Facebook is a pointless waste of time for those who have nothing to say but are going to say it anyway. It doesn't matter because no-one's listening anyway and within a day it'll have dropped off the page into the utter void. Photobucket however showed things people did want to see ... which is why they think they have a captive enough audience to extort money from. No-one's ever going to pay money for Facebook to show them pictures of what Karen from accounts had in her Subway lunch

As for using Facebook as a means of business communication, that'd have me thinking "Unprofessional tosser... get a real address/means of communication". Maybe I'm one of those old fashioned dinosaurs but I can't see, for example, the Temple doing their business via Facebook any time soon. Or any other organisation with any degree of dignity, gravitas, professionalism, permanence or public respect. Just because Tarquin and Jeremy in some meaningless insurance office WhatsApp each other cat pictures from their desks when they should be working doesn't mean that's how the world works, or ever will

Indeed. yes

It was part of the wider-ranging discussion on whether PhotoBucket is right to want to change people for "teh internetz" or not.

But, sure, by all means let's go back to the "wah wah PhotoBucket broke my links and I thought I could have them for free forever" debate. smile
Is there really any need to be so demeaning to anyone who actually thought a contract of good faith would continue to be honoured in kind? Maybe you could tell all us unevolved primates how clever you are for having your own domain name yet again, I'm sure that'd help people see the error of their ways

I'm somewhat confused as to why my post solicited this response. If I somehow offended you then I apologise.

I don't really see that there was ever a contract of good faith. PhotoBucket gave a free service, but I'm not sure they ever promised it would be free forever. Or that third party links would never break.

As I've said numerous times, I think PhotoBucket have handled this incredibly badly, and have caused a lot of damage to themselves.

Interestingly, DropBox didn't get this flak when they broke all links to people's Public folder, yet that too broke a lot of threads. Maybe fewer people were using DropBox.

I think you'll be surprised what the future may bring.

How about we just carry it on here as it's all relevant to this discussion on free and charged for internet services.

I hate to break it to you, but that's what happens in a discussion, you start off talking about one thing, and as the debate evolves you move towards the slightly broader picture.

Or we could just keep going round and round in circles saying the same things about Photobucket over and over again?

I DID pay for Photobucket, and what I got turned in to a load of crap compared to when I originally started my paid account.
Hence why I no longer have one

I'm still a strong advocate of email*, especially for business use.

I also like to have a conversation trail, which some apps don't give you - and if they do they tend to drop off the screen after a certain amount of messages.

But then at 56 I'm a dinosaur... spin
Ditto .. I loathe PM on forums as well (except to exchange e-mail addresses)..

Don't get me wrong, I will happily use email, especially for business to business, it's just that at least 50% of enquiries from new customers contact us through Facebook.

I find it quite surprising, but none the less is a fact. We seem to be searched for on Facebook more than on google.

Haha! You and me both! That's why I looked at the code to see what needed to be done to shove it onto the next line. bowtie
Indeed that is useful - thanks for sharing.

I got an email this morning from Photobucket, entitled "Some features on your account will be disabled". Cheers PB, that's exactly the kind of helpful warning I'd have liked before they were suspended, rather than three weeks after.

Dont know why everyone is deleting their photos from Photofkit. Thats exactly what they want you to do.

Far better to leave them there and use their storage space. Also cost them money in bandwidth showing their crappy 100% images. Dont get mad, get even. smile

Is anyone having issues downloading albums? I'm just getting a spinning wheel and "we will email when it is ready", but nothing happens.

Same as the two peeps above - tried downloading a couple of albums, got an email to say the download was ready. Clicked the link to get the file and... "This download is no longer available"

There are probably SO many people trying to do this at the same time, PB is now slower than its usual crawl.

For a good couple of years I've not been too happy with PB, mostly its interface (both web and app are cranky) but also with its speed. Didn't bother doing anything about it though and now all pics on all my threads here are not visible like zillions of other people.

Unsure what my solution will be but it is certainly handy to keep an eye on this thread as there are lots of ideas coming from you lot smile
