For the umpteenth time, IMGUR ALSO block certain sites and if a site you post images to CURRENTLY works, there is no guarantee IMGUR won't just arbitrarily decide to block it in the future.

The best long term option is your own hosting/domain. You obviously get the bonus of your own email too etc

So Photobucket hasn't gone under yet...?

I suspect it'll just reduce massively in size and keep the tiny proportion of customers who have agreed to pay. Given how many customers in total it had, only a small number would be needed to pay to make it a highly profitable business model. It's essentially a development of the Fremium Business Model.

I've lost touch a bit with PB, when it all kicked off I started downloading each folder because it was easier than trying to find all the old images I'd uploaded, but as everyone else was doing the same, it was slow so I left it. Went back in a week or two ago and it seems they've now removed the "download folder as zip file" option, which is a bit of a pain. Oh well.

If the third party hosting option was tiered based on storage space and priced more sensibly then I’d stick with them but at $399.99 in a single payment it’s ridiculous.

I’d have paid £10-£15 a month without any real complaint.

So John Corpus's plan to blackmail the Internet backfired then.

The mobile phone app was easy to use, that’s the main reason I used it.

Who knew laugh

The horse has already bolted though, all the people that closed their accounts will not upload again and fix links, so there will still be tons of excellent content lost.
I know I can’t be bothered to do it, and I had hundreds of photos on various how to threads across forums.
I had a paid account with them for years but they won’t get a penny from me now.
I doubt I’d use it even if it was free, the site is unusable with all the annoying pop ups and adverts

It seems you don’t need to fix the links as all the old links are working again. Only realised this when I went to post on an old thread of mine in Readers Rides and noticed that all my old photobucket pics were now visible again

They are indeed but I shan't add any more either. I might use the odd obscure one still in my library there however. Mostly, though, as I was able to download the lot, I set up what I need on Imgur.

Indeed, a thread I have been following elsewhere and which had broken PB links ever since I started reading it, started working again yesterday although I didn't know why. Quite helpful.

I'm not either.
No reason to think they won't keep flip-flopping on charges.

I deleted my account the moment the $399 p.a. pricing was announced. I would have paid what they are asking now without any complaint at the time. But it’s too late now. Screw them. I hope they go down the toilet and are a lesson for others. You don’t blackmail the internet.

Yeah it seems a bit late now. Like many I deleted all my photos from PB and went elsewhere.

No way will I be using their service again and I imagine the damage is already done.

Serves them right, blackmailing money grabbing wkers.

When they tried their blackmail, I moved everything to another provider with reasonable price for third party hosting.

i see no reason why I would move it all back again.

I deleted thousands of photos and left photobucket. I have no intention of returning.
