For what it's worth Carphone Warehouse are still showing all variations of the phone as being available for delivery on the 3rd:
https://www.carphonewarehouse.com/apple/iphone-x.h...
.
Still showing as available 3 November now.https://www.carphonewarehouse.com/apple/iphone-x.h...
.
Seriously this shortage is just a bun fight staged by Apple. It’s all hyped.

The Apple website saying delivery in 5-6 weeks. As I said, they like it that way.
It's possible that there's been a high demand and that delivery times have lengthened. I doubt very much it's a conspiracy by Apple. Carphone, EE, Vodafone etc all have stock to sell at their bundled 'deal' prices - i.e. at a very high margin. You can't buy SIM free, only at an inflated price - that's why they have stock.

I purchased a sim free Silver X from CPW on the morning of pre order, seems to say it will be with me on the 3rd which I’m not sure about..
Just be conscious about CPW as I have heard from many sources in the past their phones lock to the first sim you put in the phone. I emailed them about the iPx and they said this is not the case (in writing) but Im not sure, the person didn't sound too clued up. In fact she said she assumes they will not network lock to the first sim inserted. Either way Im not fussed as I am staying on Voda for the foreseeable future but FYI the above is worth checking for yourselves if it is an issue to you....

They were sold out when I looked.... Gents - some quick help please (sorry it's a bit of a noddy one) :
Our lad currently has an iPhone 6 - the Mrs has ordered him an X from Apple for his Christmas (which will be unlocked I guess?). He currently pays O2 monthly for data + calls etc so can he just shove his existing O2 SIM into the new phone and all will be tickety-boo?
Cheers for any help

Yes I share your views on the excessive nature of the gift but Mrs DD has her own ideas about these things and experience has shown it's for the best if I stay out of the decision making process

Actually looking at it, buying the phone from apple over 24 months and switching to SIM only would be cheaper, SIM only deals on EE don't seem to be that great though...
Getting half decent sim only deals for cheap seems to be ending, I think the amount of people going down that route so the provider can't make any loot out of the handset is getting more common, Vodafone canned my 10quid a month but had everything I needed plan, best I could get was with BT/EE at £20 in the end!Quidco and waiting for the deals seems to be the way to get good SimOnly deals! Mine came with a £90 amazon voucher, which brings its monthlies down to just above where I was!
