Have to say I’m absolutely sold on the new watch now that it can be used without a phone close by to make calls, play music etc. Perfect for going out somewhere you don’t want to take a mobile.

Definitely going to get one.

I'd get the X, if they weren't getting rid of TouchID. I use my phone for most contactless payments, and facial recognition sounds like it would be embarrassing to use in public, imagine having to crouch down or leave over the counter to pay.

Great but I like actual watches.

Watching the Keynote live for the first time ever, they don't half drag it on, how long is this likely to last? Assume iPhone announcement will be the last one.

Yes the X will be hours away!

It's sooooo cheesy.

How often do you actually go out somewhere without your mobile though? Or are you saying that the thing that's holding you back at the moment from leaving it at home is making calls?

I have an Apple Watch and mainly use the messages, activity apps never need it to make a call. It's mainly used to reply to messages when I'm busy or unable to use my phone.

It’ll just be handy to not take my phone places I don’t want to take it. Going swimming, the beach, out on the bike, for a run, even a night out.

Looking forward to 2117 when data might be abundant enough, cheap enough, fast enough and reliable enough that you can actually use Apple Watch for the things they're telling you it can now do.

Fair points. I have a Series 2 but I find replying with Scribble etc to be a bit.. well.. try-hard... if that makes sense. I can see the whole beach & night out thing working well though.

It uses the same number so will use the allowances under the one contract-just need it synced electronically.

Hours?

I'm watching this ste with our office manager who is a massive Apple Fan, streaming it in the office. I don't want to be here for hours!

What more do you need than 4G pretty much everywhere and nearly unlimited data? I have 20g a month in my phone and never get anywhere close. It’s about £20 a month.
