I bought a used, mint 7-plus (256gb) for £500 and have a Vodafone contract at £20/mth (16gb of data included). This will do me until I upgrade to the XI in a couple of years. The 8 is really just a '7s' in disguise, not a new IPhone.
Only seems to be the faster processor and slight improvement in battery life over a seven, not worth upgrading if you have a 7.

I am noticing a good improvement from my 6 but I went to an 8 plus so part of that is the bigger form factor, definitely faster though.

Probably going to do the same. Where did you get yours from if you don't mind me asking?

I'd be lying if I said that part of me didn't want to buy an X, just because it's a new design. At the same time I can't help but feel that it's compromised, and my workflow involves me unlocking my phone (6S+) without looking at it. I've tried to imagine what having to have my face in sight of the camera would feel like, and it intuitively feels like it'll get annoying fast.

I also don't like the notch, but I wonder whether Apple's hubris would mean they'd actually change this now that it's the way it is.

The X is taking pre-orders a week today isn't it?

I don't sense too much excitement around here for buying one.... I'm pretty sure I'll order one, but am not frothing at the mouth to replace my 7 to be honest. Faster processor and better camera software is about the only difference.

Face ID is appealing as I do struggle when the slightest bit hot to open my phone with a fingerprint.

I downloaded the new iOS last week and up to that point on my usual daily usage my iphone6+128Gb would have around 20% battery at 9pm.

Now 4pm its 12%!! WTF. Is this a cynical Apple move to encourage those to upgrade from older models?

We've been pestered by missed calls at home from a 0800 number, they called today while I was by the phone so I thought I'd put them out of their misery and tell them not interested and not to call again.
While I was telling her not to call and remove our number she said,
We can offer you a free sim, 1500 minutes 1500 text and 5gb of data with rollover 30 day contract.
Not interested I said.
£4 a month she said.

Virgin existing customer deal.

I bought it from the AV forums 'Classified' section. Seem to sell on there for £550ish at the mo. I was lucky and got a cheaper one.

I've got a mint 7 Plus 256Gb that I'll be replacing with an X. I'd take £500 cash for the 7+. It'll be a week on Friday at the earliest depending on how quickly I get my order in on Friday morning.

Classic Beef.

I will raise his iPhone and throw in a Sony Megadrive. Cash either way.

May be app/settings specific?
My 6S runs as well or better than before, as I think is the case for the majority.

First things first: Do you really have an iPhone 5S 32GB?

FYI for anyone trying to get an 'X' this week, in the past, the Apple Store App has been the best way of getting something in demand I am told. All your details will be in there already and assuming you have apple pay set up, you can have it processed within about 5 seconds of choosing what you want.

Well I don’t the mrs does it’s my old one which is now over 4 years old - dodgy screen too.

That poster should consider it really - having said that he shouldn’t be advertising within a thread he needs to pay to advertise selling things on a Haymarket website... and he knows it

I hate myself for even considering getting an X. I seem to keep umming and ahhing about it. It's not rational, it's very expensive for what it is, t's a compromised device that will probably see a redesign with the X2, my 6S+ is doing perfectly fine. Ahhhhhhh.

Why on earth would the poster want to consider it? It doesn't even have a properly working screen.
