My old ACER Aspire One netbook from 2007, I kept it because it runs XP which is the only thing I could get some old Durametric diagnostic software to run on properly but I often boot it from a miniature pen drive using puppy Linux and use it to browse the web, watch youtube etc and despite only 1GB of RAM it runs perfectly and zips along. Often take it away with me as its so compact, battery (not the original though 5 years old) last for hours and I just love it. Sits neatly on the arm of the sofa as well.

Who me ?

I spotted the post with the box full of leads. IT/Comms blokes will remember the days when IT stuff used to come with a UK 13A plug on the "kettle " lead and a continental plug. I always kept these ( Continental )along with any odd power lead I picked up. And there's CAT leads .i can't remember where I got them from, but I've got a box of them. Comes in very usefull when I get a shout "DAD/GRAN DAD have you got a lead for this ?"

The old radio in my garage, I wasn't using it much and was going to throw it out as I tend to use a Bluetooth speaker for radio or music from my phone. Then spotted one on eBay and they seem to fetch good money now.
So now I use it all the time drink

The laptop I'm writing this on. Must be eight years old, Vista OS, can't unplug it or it dies, overheats quite a bit, the power button doesn't work and I've got a USB keyboard over the space where the original one was. I've got a desktop too so nothing is saved on the laptop but despite me expecting it to die any minute it soldiers on.

Choose Asus. smile
I still use my Samsung NC110 Netbook (running XP) on a regular basis.

No idea why I keep it and it should just go to the tip.
Don't chuck it in the tip. there are plenty of people out there into old computers. It's worth checking 'the 8 bit guy' on youtube, as he repairs and restores old stuff like that.

Loads!, due to the motivational force of an impending house move I have been sorting the garage out and have discovered the following:

6 x laptops
2 x desktop
15 x mobiles
1 x Palm pilot
2 x av amps
2 x av pre amps
1 x record deck
2 x dvd players
3 x cd players
1 x DAC
1 x kenwood mask head unit
4 x desk phones
1 x ansamachine
5 x consoles
2 x 5.1 surround sound speakers
32 assorted speakers from B&W floor standers to homemade bookshelf speakers.

Luckily the new pad has plenty of storage space.

I filled a skip some years ago of tech stuff; emulators work well enough these days, retropie for example.

The only retained item is an Apple Newton Messagepad.

These.Meridian m10's Circa 1982, but still sound awesome. Active speakers, just need a need direct feed from pre-amp. Now need a service, as one of the amps for the bass speakers has died. Might need tweeters replacing.

de-cluttering its great!

there's comes a point where you have to look at it all and think, why? - when am I ever going to use this stuff. most of it had never left the boxes from previous moves.

I thought PS1s were worth a bit but those on eBay aren't priced very high, last time I looked.

Sonic? Sega, until they stopped making consoles.

i cannot believe you threw a dreamcast, snes, saturan, N64 and PS1 into a tip! I really can't! a DREAMCAST. you could have quite easily sold these on ebay for a minimum £30-50 a piece and would have gone to good homes.

I've been in the process of selling all sorts of stuff online for pennies. Hardly worth it but it's easier to let go of it that way than to throw it away ime.

Seconded!!! I've still got mine somewhere - some excellent, excellent games and the visual memory... (LOL - great idea, terrible execution) Some almost Arcade perfect games on there as well - as it shared much with the Naomi platform (iirc)

Just such a shame it never really took off. It got pincered by Sony and Microsoft I think.
