With 11.0.1 battery is still gubbed for me.
30 minute commute, listening to audioboook, phone on power save mode.
Started with 44% battery, just arrived at work with battery at 21%.
Why not charge your battery to 100%?30 minute commute, listening to audioboook, phone on power save mode.
Started with 44% battery, just arrived at work with battery at 21%.
Anyway - in the 2 hours since I arrived at work, my charge is still showing 21%.....so maybe there is a battery calibration issue at play here.

My battery has suffered big time from 11 update, I spoke to an Apple person last night who said nothing wrong with my hardware, battery has a 649 cycle count.
Any decent apps? I still think battery could be getting weak but this software is killing it further.
My iPad is only a few months old. I find the battery percentage indicator to be non linear. I tested it recently by full brightness and ran a Netflix film. It took 30 mins to drop to 99%. If I were you I’d full discharge, recharge then run a movie to see how long it lasts. It’s frustrating just thinking the battery is getting shagged.Any decent apps? It looks possible that 11.0.1 was about the MS Exchange server problem: https://arstechnica.com/gadgets/2017/09/apples-ios...

Thank you, mine suddenly seems to have returned to normal. Fingers crossed.Alucidnation said:

Have you tried a reset?
If by reset you mean holding the power and home buttons together...then yes.If fact, I didn’t think you could do it like this anymore as technically, there is no longer a home button.

I've upgraded to 11.0.1 this morning. A positive from this change is that Skype now works on my iPhone 8.
More generally, I'm very pleased with both the iPhone 8 and the new OS. Being a new toy, my phone has been in use rather more than usual these past few days and, despite this, the battery life seemed to be about the same as my iPhone 6S, whose battery was changed by Apple about a year ago. The phone is radically faster than the 6S, which I would have said was no slouch either; and the screen is fantastic. I'm also pretty impressed by the camera, although again it was good in the 6S as well.
I hope that I don't have "new-phone lust" in a few weeks time when the X comes out

Just tried that and all that does is ignore the lock button and increases or decreases the volume.
Tried it with the screen locked, and just came up with the power off slider like normal.
Never tried it with iOS 10, so maybe its been removed from 11.
Unless i am missing something?
EDIT: just found that it is only the volume down button that it works with.

Have you looked at Settings>Battery> to see what the phone thinks is using the battery?
Yes.....nothing really jumping out as odd.Beginning to think ( as someone else mentioned ) that the battery meter is just non-linear and maybe more noticeably so in iOS 11. I see big inexplicable drops in available charge and then it'll sit steady for ages.
So I think the process to recalibrate is to fully drain, then fully charge and on full charge reset the phone - that's my next step at least!
The Auto-Brightness setting is really buried in the "Accessibility" options in the settings in iOS11. Since finding this and turning the auto-brightness off my battery has been much better.
Worth a try for those having difficulties
Settings -> General -> Accessibility -> Display Accommodations (it'll say off, click it anyway) -> Auto Brightness slider off

I find that all IOS updates push a lot of the juice hungry settings to ON.
Once wifi search, bluetooth search, location services, display settings & background refresh settings are adjusted, the battery consumption drops big time!
I live in a coverage black spot and rely on wifi calling (EE). One issue in the past was the iPhone always 'looking' for a signal. This consumed a lot of juice. I don't think you can turn it off. Anyone know? Actually i think you can but it means shutting off 4G which would mean turning it on when i wanted to use the networkOnce wifi search, bluetooth search, location services, display settings & background refresh settings are adjusted, the battery consumption drops big time!

I just bump the phone into airplane mode and turn wifi on - signal is awful here too.Gassing Station | Computers, Gadgets & Stuff | Top of Page | What's New | My Stuff
