I didn't expect the X to be so popular, not sure even Apple did?

I don't think there any available anywhere for walk-in punters, I ordered two on the 30th and have been quoted 3-4 weeks.

My wife's 6s has 'touch disease' and is B.E.R, half tempted to get her an 8+ to shut her up, these are in stock everywhere.

Pretty good move by Apple, they know they can't build the X quick enough, but have a back-up iPhone that impatient people will buy instead.

Win/Win situation for Apple.

The cynical side of me thinks Apple are deliberately holding back production because they like to see queuing outside their shops.

I mean, if someone can pay a grand, they can pay £1150 for 256gb just as easily.

Apple could just as likely charged £300 more for the 256gb and put 128gb at £1150. Careful what you wish for - they are notorious for charging ludicrous money for memory upgrades.

I personally don’t have much on my phone these days (everything is streamed) so have only filled about 39gb on my X. No idea how people are filling a 256!

The worst is Apple charging us the same number of £’s as Americans pay in $’s. Apple music is 9.99 monthly.

I've got about 25GB left on my 7+ 256GB, I've got my entire music collection which is circa 90GB and the rest is a mixture of podcasts, games, camera roll and kids tv/films.

It's amazing how it gets used up, how did I ever survive with a T68i and 1MB of memory for music and pictures laugh

Got my hands on a friends new X...

Putting it side by side my 7 Plus and a works Note 8.... it’s pretty uninspiring. No way I’d be putting in for an “upgrade” right now. Smaller display with no real discernible difference in clarity (four of us couldn’t see a difference). Weird blob at the top is a bit st. Makes the phone look awkward.

Agreed with the storage thing, my plus has 256GB storage and it’s pretty full with just music, pictures and videos etc.

Ordered 2 (me and mrs) on pre-launch day at 8am and got one in the bag using the iphone apple store app but in typical apple style it wanted me to update my card and address details so I lost out on a launch day phone and was quoted 4-5 weeks for delivery. Funny enough both phones turned up a week later!

Set it up (from an Iphone 7 Plus 256gb) and was totally uninspired! Used it for a day and put it back in the box - it does NOT warrant an upgrade from the 7 Plus at all. The face id thing is gimmicky and I missed not having a home button tbh - speaking to many people who have one they are saying the same thing so I won't be surprised if future Iphones bring back the home button?

What really irritated me was the keyboard - on the plus you get a bigger keyboard but on the X you get a keyboard of the size of the normal iphone and for my fat fingers this was proving hard to get used to again as I much prefer the bigger keyboard to type.

I think there will deffo be an Iphone X plus next year - a 7 Plus sized phone with a full screen and I'll wait for this one.

For now £1149 x 2 back in to my bank account smile

US prices are before sales tax and local tax, ours include VAT. Not that much difference.

Some states charge for digital downloads, others don’t.

You’re the first I’ve heard of not liking the lack of home button. Everyone I’ve spoken too hasn’t missed it one bit after 30 minutes or so. I very much doubt it’ll return. I’m finding the faceID brilliant and totally transparent. TouchID just seems so fussy in comparison.

The X is a 6/7/8 replacement. I’m sure the X+ will be along next year.

I’m finding the X to be a huge HUGE upgrade from the 6+. Fundamentally though it’s still an iPhone/iOS device.

It is as you say fundamentally just another Iphone without anything groundbreaking to justify the cost of changing...and with Apple marketing the cool animated emojis as something new to promote a new version of their Iphone is just a joke.

The funny thing is that the Samsungs could do all of this a couple of years back - Face ID/ Iris scanner?

Furthermore a bunch of apps I have been using for years are not working on the Iphone x - use Instagram to promote the business and had an awesome app that allowed me to watermark with my company logo and that app is no longer supported. Another app I had was called downloads which allowed me to download anything directly to the iphone and that's a gonner too frown

Apple is cool to a lot of people end of story. Same thing with Tesla.

Some of us just wanted a newer phone. But to a lot, they will sleep overnight outside a phone shop to get one! They are insane.

For me the biggest benefit of the X is that it's got the bigger screen but in a smaller form factor than the plus models. The emojies and face recognition isn't something I'm exited about. The new screen and the design make it more desirable to me than any other phone out there. It all comes down to whether I think the smaller size and bigger screen is worth the extra over an 8 plus. I'm still not convinced yet and as a 6S owner on sim only, I'm not sure I really want to upgrade now or just leave it next year.

The X screen is smaller the 8 Plus. It's just a slightly taller 8.

Have to say I was a bit dubious when it was first announced, but ordered one to see if I like it (figured I’d flip it if I didn’t get on). As much as I wanted to poo poo it initially (“£1150?! For a phone?! “No home button?!”) it’s actually bloody good. FaceID is really impressive (does make you realise how fiddly TouchID is), the screen is bright, clear and absolutely huge next to a 7 (feels like the same change we had from 5 to 6) and the gesture control for multitasking and Home is actually really intuitive (I feared it would really annoy me).

Overall, a good step up. Melds the 7 and 7 Plus nicely into a phone that’s a pocketable size (I never got on with the Plus models). Camera is fantastic too.

I think on the review on the GSMarena website, they said the real "usable" area of the screen was in fact only something like 4.96", which is a tad misleading when you read the 5.8" figure quoted!

Edit: Checking that review again, they are referring to the usable area when displaying 16:9 content, but still....

Everything I want and need on my X and I have only ‘used’ 10.6gb so I have 53.4gb free ... and this includes the space taken by the OS ... how anyone can fill 64gb is beyond me
