Discovered that I now need new headphones!

Been using a pair of B&O in-ear headphones on my 6 that were designed for Android - always worked fine with the exception of the volume controls. Plugged them into the X via the DAC dongle this morning for the train journey into work and have an annoying rhythmic clicking sound whoch also interferes with the music. Grrrrr.

Oh well, it’s Black Friday today isn’t it wink
No no no no no no, i am yet to recieve my x should be this saturday but i have a lovely pair of B&O Ricardo Akn H6’s i so hope there not affected!!

I ordered my X a few weeks ago, I have been told it should be here by the 1st but I’m starting to doubt that. Anyone know when retailers will get deliveries from Apple?

I reckon you’ll be fine - mine are H3’s and were (I think) a giveaway with a Samsung or other Android phone and it’s the DAC cable that’s causing them not to work properly. Presume they are a different frequency or something equally technical.

Have yours got the remote control thingy on the wire?

I got mine about 2 or maybe 3 weeks before it was due, so you may still get lucky.

If you get up early and check the Apple website you will be able to find one in your local store.

Glasgow Buchanan street had a few 256gb grey and silvers last Friday when I picked mine up. By the time I got home all were sold.

I’ve just sent back my 64gb contract phone that I left boxed.

Had the phone now for a few days.

FaceID when it works, does work perfectly flawlessly and seamless. I now know that I sit weird hiding my face under blanket, t-st when I’m chilling. FaceID doesn’t work well obviously but then ive noticed it scans and continuously learns your face in different occasions and now works majority of time on these occasions. No biggie but TouchID is better overall.

Screen quality, I didn’t think it was such a big jump from my 6s but when I go back to it, Wow it’s like watching non HD.

Speed, im not too sure I thought my 6s was fast when new but I think with all the latest updates it slowed down. So I don’t know if you could tell in real world terms differences if you had a brand new 6s or X using basic apps etc.

Battery life is much better. My 6s needed charged during the day and again overnight. I would be worried leaving for a night out if I wasn’t on 100% with the X I think it’ll be more than fine.

Overall I’m impressed, but is it worth the price deffinately not. Although it does feel a major upgrade to my 6s in terms of weight, quality etc I’ll keep it and I am enjoying using it.

I always leave a few generations before I upgrade and it’s always weird going back to your old phones. My trusty 5s in the drawer looks and feels like a dinosaur of the past.

Nice review. I always leave it a few generations to upgrade, I’m going from a 6 to a X. My favourite iPhone was the 4s, that was a great phone.

Honestly Id guess that is the dongle picking up electrical interference from the train rather than the headphones.

The call quality on mine is awful - nobody can hear me. Not sure what the issue is, but every call is difficult unless I put it on the speaker.

Funnily enough I’ve not had much call time on it but I find coming from the 6s which was a much smaller phone, now I tend to cover the speaker area maybe just the way I was used to holding the old phone. Are you doing the same? Worth a trip to apple maybe, with the price of these phones if it’s not right, I wouldn’t put up with it.

Yeh the 4S was the last rock solid phone IMO, hard to break. I still have that in a drawer in pristine condition it just needs a new battery.

My 5s took lots of damage not worth much now and only keep that for emergency's if I lose/break my phone.

The only phone I don't have still is the 3GS which I lost well actually it was stolen while drunk.

Coming from a random Samsung phone with a touch screen that wasn't very accurate and unresponsive at times to the 3GS. Now that was the last time I was Wow'd by a phone. It was built well, looked classy and looked very much apart to the phones of that generation and the touch screen was accurate, swiping was fluid, iOS was simple and made sense.

Now I think all phones are much the same and all it comes down to is just individual user preference.

Don’t think so - it was the same in my office too.
Other headphones work fine with the same dongle.

Good review, pretty much sums up my feelings to a T.

I've tried to forget about the price, writing it off as a sunk cost now that I'm outside the 14 day return window. I definitely don't think it's worth the asking price, it's not 1.5 - 2x the phone the Samsung S8 or OnePlus 5T is in terms of technology, and I don't care what about what anyone says about the BoM cost being higher than previous iPhones for Apple, like I'm supposed to shed a tear for a corporation approaching a $1 trillion market cap.

Unfortunately if you want the Apple ecosystem you're stuffed really. I have a Watch, MBP and iPhone and they all play together so nicely that i would genuinely be frustrated in various situations if I switched back to Android now (for example, the watch knows the phone is playing something and gives me media controls on it, etc).

Battery life is as you say - excellent, but it is also a brand new phone. I'm cynical, the battery on my 6S+ lasted ages when I first got it, then gradually went to complete st. People just seem to accept that now, particularly with Apple products. I have no doubt that the X will follow a simliar path and the battery usage will get worse over time. The price of forced obsolescence progress I guess.

Sort of iPhone X related given the chipset is the same...

I've just upgraded from an iPhone 6 (which I've had since 2015) to the 8 Plus and I'm massively impressed with the performance boost offered by the new A11 chip - it's SO much faster.

P.S. I'm very jealous of you all with your flashy all-screen phones! irkedbiggrin

Don't be jealous; the 8 plus might actually be the better phone, practically speaking.

Right so mirgin vedia are liars and my phone wont be arriving today, really need a phone today as going away tomorrow.

I can get the 64gb version from carphone warehouse but this is the same size as my iphone 6 which is full. I have been told that the 7 onwards stores data better so a full iphone 6 would not be a full iphone x.

Anyone know anything about this?

I know i can use icloud and indeed i do but for travelling to Japan i need physical storage not cloud based services.

Any help greatly appreciated even if it isnt what i want to hear
