Right so mirgin vedia are liars and my phone wont be arriving today, really need a phone today as going away tomorrow.

I can get the 64gb version from carphone warehouse but this is the same size as my iphone 6 which is full. I have been told that the 7 onwards stores data better so a full iphone 6 would not be a full iphone x.

Anyone know anything about this?

I know i can use icloud and indeed i do but for travelling to Japan i need physical storage not cloud based services.

Any help greatly appreciated even if it isnt what i want to hear
I haven’t heard anything like this personally.

What takes up most of your data? Would it be worth upgrading iCloud? I have 50gb on there for only £0.79 a month it’s pretty good value. All photos (some 30gb are on there).

Battery life is as you say - excellent, but it is also a brand new phone. I'm cynical, the battery on my 6S+ lasted ages when I first got it, then gradually went to complete st. People just seem to accept that now, particularly with Apple products. I have no doubt that the X will follow a simliar path and the battery usage will get worse over time. The price of forced obsolescence progress I guess.
Same here with my 2014 purchased IPhone 6. It needs changing because the battery is now st. I share your cynicism. It looks like Apple are trying to everybody onto their upgrade program so they can change phones annually.

I have icloud its just that When in Japan it is not cost effective to keep using data and therefore i need the physical storage.

The solution is to move stuff from the phone onto a computer.

I honestly see why you suggest that but i really do need the storage to be on the phone.

Have had a look and it doesnt seem to be correct that the compression is better so will just wait for the 256gb to be free from somewhere.

I get that you need the storage on the phone but you've filled the phone with stuff. Is it really full with stuff you need to keep on the phone at all times?

Apps usually store stuff 'in-app' that takes up space you don't even realise.
Downloading stuff to a computer saves them off the phone in case the phone gets nicked.

Regularly cleaning out my phone I can get like 20GB of spare space in no time. When I moved to Apple music, I now don't even need much music saved on there. Before a trip I back up and download images to free space. I'm on a 64GB iPhone 8 Plus and I've used 40%!

Using the iPhone Storage page in settings you can see where it's all gone. Might surprise you when looking through the list!!

I’ve cleared so its just photos, music and documents.

Half my family are in Japan half in England all want to see the photos, A lot of the time i use wifi to get them from my icloud account but this is nearly full and i have 40gb of different photos on my phone the rest of the storage is music, again i have Apple music but cannot stream when on a plane or a train and whilst the bullet train may be fast its still a long and boring trip from Tokyo to Kyushu!

Thanks for the tips though but i have already cut it down to the minimum, problem is i dont have a personal computer sould really do with getting a stand alone wifi hard drive to store things on which may not be required but the band aid for the moment is a 256gb phone.

I'm still running a 4S (with iOS7) that I got the day they came out in 2011 and its battery life hasn't deteriorated noticeably! Might be lucky though - the battery on the 3GS I had for a couple of years before the 4S was quite flaky by the time I replaced it.

Ditto, despite the order being marked as complete online and being told by a customer service rep this morning that it would be with me by 5.30!
Having waited in all day we were furious to discover that it wouldn't be arriving.

Got the phone a day or two ago to replace a 6S that I never should have updated the software on. In the states so here phones are arriving daily, Called up once and was told nothing in stock for a 250 mile radius. Called up the next day and bought the phone before the shop even opened and just went and collected it.

Face ID works pretty seemlesly, in fact I don’t really notice it. The screen seems good, though I’m not sure about the True Tone look, which seems like night shift to me.

Overall pretty happy with it, though I’d be happier if my music had come over when I restored on it

Yep, this is the third delivery date missed. After the second complained to the executive team, i confirmed with the webchat that it would be arriving and they told me it would be woth me in the morning,in the afternoon called up to be told phone still on back order.

Its quite funny though how you can tie them up in knots, i asked why no one had called me to let me know why the delivery wasnt going to happen to which she apologised and said she didnt know as she would of expected me to be informed. I then asked if they do inform customers if the date is not going to be met to which the answer was no we do not sir! I pointed out the problem but she didnt appear to understand.

In the end i put the phone down as a normal call centre worker isnt paid enough to hear the shower of st im bringing their way on Monday.

And yes its only a phone but im going away know for a week without a personal phone and this is the thrid time the company has lied to me.

The call quality on mine is awful - nobody can hear me. Not sure what the issue is, but every call is difficult unless I put it on the speaker.
Funnily enough I’ve not had much call time on it but I find coming from the 6s which was a much smaller phone, now I tend to cover the speaker area maybe just the way I was used to holding the old phone. Are you doing the same? Worth a trip to apple maybe, with the price of these phones if it’s not right, I wouldn’t put up with it.
I took mine into Apple today. Normal excellent service... they performed a full diagnostic on the phone, nothing wrong with it. However, they offered to swap it with a brand new one. I declined, thinking I would do some more research.

It seems there is a call quality problem if you use a folio case - where you fold the cover back so that it covers the camera lens. In the camera lens is a microphone that measures background noise during a phone call, if you cover it, it thinks your voice is background noise somehow and tries to limit your volume.

I've just ordered a leather folio case which comes with a small sheet of paper detailing issue above. They advised to fold the cover as flat as possible to avoid issues. I don't make long voice calls but so far has been ok.

Interesting...

Could you post up the included paper that came with your case?

Ever since I received my iPhone X a couple of weeks ago it had a rattle. Like a single, heavy component was loose inside and if you moved the phone about it would donk-donk-donk. Even if you tapped the screen with a little gusto you could feel and hear it. Anyway, took it to Apple, they ran some diagnostics, said there were no issues, other than the rattle which he thought might be a faulty haptic engine. They swapped it there and then. Not very confidence inspiring in a phone costing over a grand though.

X’s available in the London Regent Street and Covent Garden as of 8:30 this morning.

It’s looking like the shortage will be short lived. wink

I think Apple are managing their queues well, just as was their stated objective.

I have passed the stores in Stratford, Covent Garden and Kingston in the past week and there were queues outside all of them - not bad for a phone that was released over a month ago.

To those complaining about memory, especially with photos, download Google Photos. It's free, works in the cloud and gives you two options: free at an average quality pic or high quality for a price.!
