A welcome addition to the Philips Hue system would be an IP rated motion sensor for external use.

An absolute bargain when you can buy new on Amazon for £254.40 - £65.60 less

If it's a major issue you can probably work around it by getting a SmartThings hub (£50) and pretty much any Zigbee or Z-Wave IP rated motion sensor should then work with it; you'll need to automate it through ST but that's easy.

I wouldn't hold your breath on a Hue one any time soon as most (if not all?) of their lights appear to be for indoor use. Much as I use a standard B22 Hue bulb above my front door on a dusk-to-dawn routine.

No link as such

Just added 9 to the basket

Now it might be becasue of Prime, even if that's the case you can normally get a free 30 day trial, even if you can't it's only £7.99 smile

I have Prime membership but still can’t find that price on UK site. Can’t you link it? Is it some sort of EU Sarl trickery?

They're 3 for 2 on Amazon at the moment, that's why you might not be seeing them at that price, you need to go to checkout to get the final price

Yep, and then refuses to turn off until 2am. I am worried that one or more of the bulbs may declare themselves independent and no longer reliant on the hub though....

Was all set to buy two of the Hue pendant lamps at about £220 each, and then saw that the 'bulb' is not replaceable - when the LED goes, you're supposed to junk the whole lamp! :-o (Any colour but green, it seems.)

John Lewis offers a 5 year guarantee to offset the risk of premature failure, but this is still a retrograde step. I presume it's not user-replaceable - due to using some SMT LED array instead of a 'bulb'.

But it should be repairable by someone with the soldering skills - assuming that Philips made it possible to open it up without destroying it.

Anyone know more?
