I'd highly recommend you get Apple to fit a new battery regardless, for 25 quid it's a no brainer. You have until December to make a decision
I'm not being facetious but why would you recommend spending £25 when there appears to be no justification for doing so?That does assume that you would like to keep it for another few years though.
As was suggested to me earlier in the thread regarding a change, I called the Apple help line and said new battery please I was then quizzed on was it slow or is it just cos I want to change it. Not a problem from them, I said £25 no brainer and they just said make sure you book it in, wait time for me would be a round a week to ten days for the battery to be at the shop.
When I have a minute will try to book it in on line.
\
Cut off is October but wonder how many are getting this done and thus affecting supplies.

Apple is reducing the price of an out-of-warranty iPhone battery replacement by £54 — from £79 to £25 — for anyone with an iPhone 6 or later whose battery needs to be replaced, available worldwide until December 2018. Details will be provided soon on apple.com/uk.

And was your previous battery presenting any issues? Taking ages to charge......not holding charge.....?
Yes... Charge was lasting barely a day, phone running everything at a crawl. Went online and the support guy ran remote diagnostics which showed the battery was essentially done. Went into the store for a battery swap and basically all issues solved. Phone now works at proper speed, runs well over a day on a charge.amusingduck said:
It's dirt cheap for a new battery, especially for a proper Apple repair. You've had ~3 years out of the original battery, I think £25 is a very reasonable price to pay for the peace of mind - knowing you should definitely get at least another 2 years out of it.
That does assume that you would like to keep it for another few years though.
It's a fair point you raise. If I decide to keep my phone it definitely makes sense. Thanks. That does assume that you would like to keep it for another few years though.
Meanwhile, I'm waiting to see if a new SE model is released.

It still amazes me that despite what they did, people will keep buying their products even if they know what they did.

Mine is at 92% 3 years old, and isn’t working as fluidly as it did on iOS 10. Piss poor apple. Not a happy bunny,?
Was at 89% according to Apple, 82% using coconut; Arranged a battery change at the iPhone store in Norwich, one hour later, new batter (only at 54% charge though ) and £25 it’s done:
Seems snappier on using texts, not quite 10.4 snappy, but noticeably different to before the battery swap, happy yes; for how long? Who knows, if it starts getting flakey again, I’ll update my section here.

Me too! My 2½ year old 6s+ is now down to 77%.
So I don’t know what everyone else is making a fuss about - going to make an appointment soon, assuming the battery replacement is still about 20 minutes while you wait.
And at £25 I’d call that a bargain - i’ve been doing the Man Maths and I can’t yet see the advantage of an upgrade, not when I know I’m at least going to iOS 12 in the “Fall”....

Exactly. There is sod all difference between a 6 and a 10. The camera is the only nice to have. Will see what the X2 offers, most likely plus sized screenSo I don’t know what everyone else is making a fuss about - going to make an appointment soon, assuming the battery replacement is still about 20 minutes while you wait.

Me too! There are phones made by companies other than Samsung and Apple.
