My channel got caught with this too. Luckily I was at 830 or so subscribers. Putting the shout out amongst the likeminded group of people I am a member of (collecting vacuum cleaners) quickly had that above 1000 and I can relax!

I felt bad for asking, it's not something I do, if people want to subscribe they will, but I get nearly £100 a month, it basically pays for my hobby (new machines, parts etc), or even a tank of diesel at the end of a st month. I bought a new camera from ad revenue at the end of the summer and it would be a shame to loose that!

Lots of other people expressed the same issue, I subscribed to alot of people last week just to help them (and unticked the notify button...)

Have you guys looked into any other forms of revenue so you don’t have to rely on ad revenue from Youtube? I support some of the channels I watch via Patreon, mostly at the $1 a month level. Patreon did have a wobble not long ago when they were going to change the amount supporters had to pay but that’s settled down now.
I guess the flaw in this thinking is that if a viewer liked a channel enough to pay money they would’ve already subscribed…

YouTube red (not red tube) looks like the next big think in YouTube. It’s a paid streaming service with all these most folllowed youtubers producing content for it and some other YouTube only shows. I think it’s mainly for kids and young teens.

Aparently it’s out in the states but not in the Uk, my kids are waiting for it.

My kids love YouTube, they don’t watch any tv or sky or hardly even Netflix or amazon. Amazing how popular it is.
Youtube Red 'exclusive content' has as far as I can see, been totally awful. From time to time they release it on regular Youtube and it comes up in my feed - absolutely nothing that looks appealing and when I've tried watching it to see what it's like, I usually quit after a minute or two.

They are in danger of doing what ebay did and ditching what made them popular in the first place by trying to transform themselves into a service to compete with established TV media.

Right now I watch a ton of stuff on Youtube instead of channel hopping because it provides a massive and varied amount of niche material that you'd probably never see on TV and there's always something that interests me. If they try to turn it into a fully commercial clone of a TV service with fewer channels/creators and more 'professional' content then I likely won't watch it any more.

I wonder if anyone has ever purchased something, whose advert delayed the video you wanted to see.
More likely to hack you off & lose them a customer.
Well yes, its called retargeting and many businesses use Google's ad network to put ads in front of you from sites you have visited and shown an interest in. It will not only show general ads from the company but often the products you had browsed before.

It's a much better way of advertising but it is counteracted by paranoid people who worry about 'big brother' and these companies tracking you.

Would agree... with one exception.
I consider myself very unaffected by advertising (while I know everybody is), but I hear about new movies I want to see from youtube ads.

For now it doesn't register a sale (I go and see them in the local cinema), but it definitely works.

That's what targeted ads should do, know that I've never been affected by anything but movie trailers, and adjust their ads to that.

Going based on most of the Youtubers I see, the content can be utter garbage, it's how many times you beg, shout and make stupid noises in a video that actually gets you the subs...
Yeh, I'm not about to do that..!

I publish on YouTube and then link to them on my website. The ads are irritating. Did you know that the funeral industry is ripping off the public? It's been doing so for more than 10 years.

I too watch fewer videos.

I watch lots of YouTube but I don't see any adverts as I have Adblock for chrome and the Adblock browser for the Android tablet I use at work.
