Motorola are on 2 year update cycle, G5 was released in March 2017 so you will get updates until March 2019 maybe a bit later than that (with update level being roughly March 2019) but no more. Personal experience with 2 Motorolas over last 3-4 years.

Keep dreaming. You can get 2 or max 3 years out of iphones nowdays.
What makes you think this?!

My works iPhone 6 is on Y4 now and I’ve had it since release and it’s pretty much perfect working condition all round and the battery health is still 82% and lasts a good 2 days with constant emails, calls and Skype use??!

Not got experience of the P20 lite but my dad has had a P10 lite for a year or so and been happy with it, albeit he's a light smartphone user.

I'd up the budget and get the brand new Motorola One (the one with Android One) for 280. There will also be a Motorola One Power with 5000 mAh battery and slightly better CPU. Or perhaps one of the Nokias with Android One. Android One is definitely something I'd consider if I wanted a phone with stock Android.

I've had my Nexus 5 since November 14, paid just under £200 iirc for a grade A+ refurb (I think it was an upgrade that had been returned.)

Battery is on its last legs, but is used for music and podcasts most days so its pretty much always on charge through the day, and use it for traffic to and from work so its usually on charge then too.

Keep eyeing up options for when the inevitable happens, currently the Nokia 7.1 is winning, but for now, it's still supported by ROM developers and I like tinkering (currently official LineageOS Nougat).
I've just gone down that exact route after having my Nexus 5x for just over 2 years.

Battery life on the Nokia is genuinely brilliant. No more eeking out battery time to last the day as it will go for almost 4 days with light to moderate use.

Thanks for that.

I might ask St Nick for the Nokia, as this PoS lost over a quarter charge overnight, in aeroplane mode...

If true that wouldn’t contradict what I said.
