those p30 deals don't seem bad at all.
probably cos P40 is rumoured due later this month.

I can't see the P40 having much takeup though... Sideloading apps is never going to accepted in the mainstream...

My battery life seems to have gone off and I can't work out why - I am considering a full (local) hisuite backup, hard reset and restore as there's no memory card to pull....

Has anyone else done or tried this at all?

Anyone got the p30 pro and is it any sturdier than the p20 pro?

I had a cover on my 20 for the last 18 months.

Took it off one day and realized what a pretty phone it is without a grotty cover on it.

Then dropped it and cracked the rear cover. Then dropped it again and cracked the front screen.

Argh.

So the new one - any sturdier?!

I'm really sorry, I laughed at that... I did do something similar though as it's a lovely phone, but it's made of oil and slippy things...

My case stays firmly on...

I have no idea what it's made of but it's the slipperiest thing in the world. It 'literally' throws itself on the floor wherever I put it.

Pretty though.

And I guess the new one will be the same... sigh.

What case do you have out of interest?

I’d have gone for the P40 but without google or I think banking apps not worth the bother.

My phone came with a basic clear "sleeve" with a slightly raised edge - It does a job nicely and doesn't increase the size of the phone at all.

Pretty much this: https://www.amazon.co.uk/Spigen-Hybrid-Crystal-Fle...

I've got the P30 pro, I have the Spigen case, just as well as I've dropped my phone several times at height onto the kitchen floor without any damage to the phone.

My renewal is about here, fancy the p40 but will lack of Google be an issue?
I use youtube and maps a lot, so will I be able to install them after purchase?
What about other apps like Instagram?

I saw something from reviewers of the P40 saying that they used YouTube and maps on the web app as they couldn't install it. I think your social media apps will be fine.

I'm due an upgrade and for the first time in a long time, I'm considering SIM only - the p30 pro just isn't a step up enough for me...

I'm still waiting on Android 10 too....

Thanks, I've just been reading a review. It seems the camera is incredible, which I use a lot.
Just the whole Google thing leaving me unsure.

You can sideload the APK's for the apps and there's ways to spoof the link to the play store to use, but it really is a workaround/faff, not sure if banking apps would work at all, or you access the browser version as mentioned. It's not crippled per se, but it's very much hindered without the Play store. And Huawei lock the bootloader so you couldn't flash a custom ROM with play store access to get around it either, wouldn't be me.

The OnePlus 8 Pro seems a belter, and they've finally stepped up their camera game too. I'm curious to see what the Pixel 4a is like as the 3a/3aXL was Google's best selling Pixel so far, and they've upped the specs quite a bit on last year's, plus it'll still have one of the best cameras going, for £399.

I now have a P30 pro on order - there isn't anything else that I'd consider to be honest, it is supposed to arrive today, but I'm not exactly convinced in the circumstances.

Only thing I have to do now is work out how to migrate all my photos and things to the new phone... smile

Do you use Google's photos app? All my photos appear on all my android devices with that.

Or use the phone Clone that comes with the phone

OP uses original sized uploads which don't compress.
