Anybody got Nest Hello? Been looking at Ring 2 doorbells recently as more of a security feature than an actual doorbell, come across Nest Hello last night.

I already have Nest Thermostat and Google Home Speaker so seems a better option to add another Nest product to the house rather than an Amazon product.

Reviews seem quite good as well.

Its clever, but not (imho) £229 worth of clever. If you want to dip your toe in the water, do Argos have any of the original Ring doorbells for <£90?

Didn't really fancy the cheap one was looking at Ring 2 but that revolves around Ring/Amazon infrastructure and I have Google/Nest stuff in my house hence why I was thinking of the Nest.

I understand, but is the ability to cast the doorbell worth £140? I was really keen for this, but the pricing is ridiculous. Might wait to see who gets gadget sick - they are cropping up second hand on the States at around $150, which meets my value budget.

Sounds like you may have answered your own questions. I can't comment on the Nest Hello but as an owner of an original Ring Doorbell which cost me £89, the Nest pricing seems a bit steep. The Ring doorbell does what I need it to although I do have Ring cameras so can understand your intention to keep to the same interface, app, cloud storage etc.. Hopefully some owners will be along to review

I've got one. I already had a few cameras, a thermostat and smoke detectors, so I was happy to pay the premium to manage it all within a single app. It's easy to install and works really well.

I currently have one of these cheap battery operated wireless doorbells so there is no wiring or inside chime.

You can't have a Nest Hello without wires, sadly. It needs 24v to the bell to provide video

Yep realised that, does it need to have a chime as well or can it work without? (I have Google Home, read somehwere that can act as a chime)

Just stumbled on this, but if you've not bought one yet then do it. The main negative is the subscription..

I didn't get round to it, local companies charging £325 for it fitted.

I got one after going through 5 Ring Video Doorbell 2s in 3 months. I was initially reluctant due to the price, but the Nest Hello is well worth the extra IMHO - it works, and the picture was good enough to catch someone clipping a car in my neighbour across the roads car park!

I've read quite a few reviews saying the nest is better, and it works with the stuff I have which is all Google stuff.

I just bought mine and wired it up myself. Got a transformer from Amazon (I think) which wires straight in. Don't use a chime, just the Google Mini's.

If you already have a wired mains doorbell, you may get it to work with that but it is picky over transformer voltages.

Fair enough, we had a re-wire and the electrician was going to hard wire a transformer like you get in new builds but finding a compatible one was tricky. I got a plug in one with a 5m wire and plugged it into the adjacent garage and ran the wire through a ceiling (which handily was down).
