The watch is lovely!
It looks the same but.......different
I've currently got a 3 42mm but the 4 is slightly bigger (we knew that) but seems a lot bigger!
My new phone is currently talking to my 7 and I'm not sure what it's doing
I wanted a new watch, I’m using one of the very originals. I’m just disappointed they didn’t put in an improved battery. Mine lasts all day unless I use the workout app which is very important to me.It looks the same but.......different

The current batteries are light years ahead now

That's amazing. I asked the question in the Apple shop in Stratford, London and was told that the new watches are using the same battery as I already have and I wouldn't see an improvement. If I use the workout app and go for say a 3-4 hour bike ride the watch is using reserve power by the time I get home.
I promise you, you will see a massive improvement HoHoHo said:

I walk past the Edinburgh apple shop on my way to work, I think there was maybe 5-10 people standing outside. Think the days of massive queues/ hype are over
Certainly doesn't look all that busy outside the London stores despite the claims of the headline!https://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-6192393/T...
John Lewis, Currys, Argos etc all still got stock of most models for collection today or tomorrow.
Maybe everyone's waiting for the XR and ignoring the XS.

The 'only £xp a day is one way of looking at it, and often how people justify these things.
The other way is to say it's many peoples monthly wage, and in some countries an annual wage or more... for a fking phone!!!!
Wow! Are you 90 years old? Are you aware of the term 'smartphone' ? It's been around since the very first iPhone. I'll educate you and bring you up to speed, Grandpa. The other way is to say it's many peoples monthly wage, and in some countries an annual wage or more... for a fking phone!!!!
Smartphones are essentially very portable computers - even more portable than laptops, which you've probably heard about, or iPads and similar tablet's - familiar with those?
Anyway, smartphones are not 'just' phones. They are incredible devices that we can use to explore the Internet, manage Business functions, take photographs with, read content such as books and magazines upon, store music and video upon, listen to music and watch video from, engage with others using Social Media platforms - even, as in my case, run an entire Business from!
They are immense in terms of functionality and while some people will only want - or need a phone (you, I assume) - smartphones are so much more and allow people like me to literally work from the beach, on a plane, travelling, walking - anywhere I am, far more portably than my laptop can offer.
Obviously, not all smartphones are made equal and some have premium features and better, nicer displays, are faster, better cameras etc. If you want a flagship version naturally you will pay more. As with anything. You have to weigh the benefit of each feature vs your use and the associated cost difference.
You think it is a lot of money to pay over a £1000 for 'a phone' and I'd agree with you if it was 'just a phone' but it really isn't and the benefits I personally get from owning a smartphone make £1000+ an absolute bargain! I want the premium features because I use the smartphone a lot and as a tool I use everyday, I want the best experience. The amount of freedom from being chained to a desk it provides me is worth far, far more than £1000!
Granted, if you do not take advantage of what a smartphone can do for you, then you would be better off paying less for a bog standard phone or cheaper smartphone. But to be dismissive in the way you are being, is just, well, silly.
I'm very familiar with Xcode...
I also recognise a very high profit margin when I see one.

On the max at around £1200 it works out at £1.64 a day over 2 years which I think is great value for a device that is used loads.

Yes everyone 'indulges' but I would say that part of the indulgence is to recognise that you are paying a premium for the brand.

Not unlike paying for a Porsche when a Ford will also take you where you need to be.
I'm not sure that analogy really works with phones. I mean, they're all cobbled together in the same place, in the same way, using the same materials, by the same people. They're about as reliable each other, last as long as each other, offer the same features as each other, have the same functionality as each other. If you were asked to explain the difference to an alien, you'd most likely be reduced to saying; "This one has some letters on it and this one has a picture of an apple on it."
Whether people buy Apple, Samsung, Sony, LG, Motorola or anything else these days, the only real differentiator is the logo stuck to it. It's personal preference and that alone.

At the level your talking about don't they all cost pretty much the same?
Probably not a lot in it, in reality. I think I was just questioning the perception. I just had a look at CPW, ordered all SIM-free phones by price, highest to lowest and it chucks out this:Huawei Porsche Mate Racing Sport () - £1,499
Apple iPhone Xs Max - £1,099
Apple iPhone Xs - £999
Apple iPhone X - £959
Samsung Galaxy Note 9 - £899
Samsung Galaxy Note 8 - £869
Samsung Galaxy S9 Plus - £869
Apple iPhone 8 Plus - £739
Samsung Galaxy S8 Plus - £699
Sony Xperia XZ2 - £699
Huawei P20 Pro - £679
Apple iPhone 7 Plus - £649
Base prices quoted.
Just seems like Samsung and Apple are in a battle to see who can bum their customers' wallets the most.

Do you or does anyone here know if the cellular version still only works with E Mobile? My phone provider is 3 Mobile and I really don't want to change.HoHoHo said:

Just awaiting all my apps to transfer, but so far I'm really impressed with extra screen acreage. Lovely bit of kit. I've sold my X to a mate so it's only cost me £500 to upgrade.
