Rather more room in a MacBook case than a phone full of the clever stuff people like. I was grumpy too but bought some Bluetooth earphones and never looked back. The dongle lives on the end of my other headphones. No hassle. Bloody tight courageous not to include it any more though.

It's not much of an upgrade over the X, truth be told. The screen is bigger but that doesn't translate to more information on screen (at least not until/if apps update to take advantage of it).
You don't get an extra row of icons on the home screen, for example, and everything just seems to be scaled up a bit more.
My thumb can just about reach the left hand side of the keyboard but reaching the top is impossible without two hands or using Apple's accessibility feature.
Hmm

So, with all these new arrivals, is anyone selling an X?
Normally I'd say yes.... I've sold previous iPhones via PH as I'd never use Ebay. And I really look after my stuff - not a mark and boxed like new.But I can't see any reason at all to move from the X to new generation - there's no real upgrade.
Looking forward to something more funky/interesting in 2019.

Thats what i have been saying past since the 6 i have had since it was released..... They just aren't much different each year now. That said i think i need one as my 6 although doing ok now has decided to only make calls when on loudspeaker. Its done well though tbh.But I can't see any reason at all to move from the X to new generation - there's no real upgrade.
Looking forward to something more funky/interesting in 2019.

Wow! Are you 90 years old? Are you aware of the term 'smartphone' ? It's been around since the very first iPhone. I'll educate you and bring you up to speed, Grandpa.
Smartphones are essentially very portable computers - even more portable than laptops, which you've probably heard about, or iPads and similar tablet's - familiar with those?
Anyway, smartphones are not 'just' phones. They are incredible devices that we can use to explore the Internet, manage Business functions, take photographs with, read content such as books and magazines upon, store music and video upon, listen to music and watch video from, engage with others using Social Media platforms - even, as in my case, run an entire Business from!
They are immense in terms of functionality and while some people will only want - or need a phone (you, I assume) - smartphones are so much more and allow people like me to literally work from the beach, on a plane, travelling, walking - anywhere I am, far more portably than my laptop can offer.
Obviously, not all smartphones are made equal and some have premium features and better, nicer displays, are faster, better cameras etc. If you want a flagship version naturally you will pay more. As with anything. You have to weigh the benefit of each feature vs your use and the associated cost difference.
You think it is a lot of money to pay over a £1000 for 'a phone' and I'd agree with you if it was 'just a phone' but it really isn't and the benefits I personally get from owning a smartphone make £1000+ an absolute bargain! I want the premium features because I use the smartphone a lot and as a tool I use everyday, I want the best experience. The amount of freedom from being chained to a desk it provides me is worth far, far more than £1000!
Granted, if you do not take advantage of what a smartphone can do for you, then you would be better off paying less for a bog standard phone or cheaper smartphone. But to be dismissive in the way you are being, is just, well, silly.
Agree 100% on what the phone can do.Smartphones are essentially very portable computers - even more portable than laptops, which you've probably heard about, or iPads and similar tablet's - familiar with those?

Other argument is price vs phone being damaged, dropped, stolen, lost etc...

I was very surprised with this going from the 8 to the 8+.You don't get an extra row of icons on the home screen, for example, and everything just seems to be scaled up a bit more.

Hmm
I imagined another row of icons on the screen and being able to view much more information in emails and websites etc...
No just EXACTLY the same information as on the 8 but bigger.
Pointless.

Admittedly, I have big hands but with the correct grip, I can reach all corners. Even with small hands, I would have thought all of screen can be reached if you hold it right.
By the way, this is the max, I did tell you I had big hands. (Sorry for sideway images, new phone, same forum issues).

I don't know what I was expecting and ordered the XS Max blind, if I'm honest. I never had a 6S to compare to a 6S+ so I guess my expectations were too high.
I've already sold my X so I'm in with both feet now, but I'm marginally underwhelmed. The extra screen size is nice for YouTube and Netflix etc, but in practical terms - as you say - there is literally no additional information on screen, just the same stuff scaled up.
If you've already got an X definitely try one in store before pulling the trigger.

"Are you holding it right" made me chuckle, sorry. Shades of "antenna gate" there, don't know if that was intentional or not... I'm not holding it like that when typing, so reaching the top of the screen would involve repositioning my hand behind the phone whilst holding it, not something I would be that happy to do one handed.
I think my hands are a little bit smaller than yours though.
Thanks for taking the time to take photos.

Hah, are you saying the display is just scaled rather than giving a larger usable area?I imagined another row of icons on the screen and being able to view much more information in emails and websites etc...
