Apple could buy several major carriers.
They’d need to establish nearly worldwide coverage to make that feasible. Not impossible but very unlikely imo.

The roaming agreements all have change of control termination clauses. Acquisition of a carrier by Apple would trigger these. It would require a lot of negotiation, because so many of the other carriers would feel threatened. Then again, if Apple moves, so will Google.
As I said not impossible but very unlikely.

Just a heads up iOS 12.1 was released last night which enables the dual sim feature (if your on EE).

More info below but it looks like you need to request a e-sim pack which can either be posted to you(call 150) or you can get one from an EE store. I will pick one up on the weekend.

I’m with 3 Mobile at the moment of a sim only deal. I chose 3 because I can use them in several countries outside of Europe for no additional cost. I’d really like to be able to use EE but the roaming charges make it prohibitive for me to change.

I’m going to change my iPad for the new pro version.

A word of warning. I bought the current one about 3 years ago and chose WiFi only. I then found that it wouldn’t work for navigation apps like Navmii without the cellular capability.

Such as?

That looks like a meaningless post without an explanation.

I'm guessing he's referring to you posting the same thing twice.
Ah yes, I haden’t noticed. Nothing wrong with the iPad but I’m on a cruise ship so the WiFi isn’t great.

Yes. My wife does exactly this. It’s pretty much the whole point of the Hotspot feature.
Thanks. I can’t try it at the moment as I’m out of the country but will do when I’m back.

I thought you had an issue with "navigation apps like Navmii" not working - i.e. lacking GPS signal, not lack of internet? What cellular version adds is GPS reception which is what you're missing in your WiFi only model and hotspot off of another device won't help you with that.
That’s what I thought. Then I thought maybe use gps from my iPhone and hotspot to iPad. Sounds like that’s not gonna work.

Thinking of buying a new IPad Pro. I’m a bit confused by the ‘18W USB‑C Power Adapter’. Is that a different charging system than on the previous IPad? I don’t want to have to carry yet another charger. We travel a lot and chargers for phones, IPad, MacBook, iwatches, headphones and kindles are becoming a bit of an issue.

Although it is a different charger USB-C is being adopted by most companies whilst it will be annoying for the short term it’s good to see apple using it vs their own proprietary cable.
Yes but yet another charger to carry when I travel. irked

It is but has “foldable pins” so its the same overall size as the small iphone charger and a good deal smaller than the old Pro charger. You can buy USBC to lightning cables so for me the portable options are simple - take the new ipad pro charger plus 2 cables.

You can still charge the new ipad from USBA, you just need a meaty one and the right cable.
Thanks for that. `I’m in London on Thursday so I’ll take a look.

I’m flying to Canada the following week so probably best to buy it at the airport.

Or just carry a handy USB C to USB A adaptor. Then you can connect USB A items to your iPad, and also connect USB to Lightning cables to the new power adaptor?

I have one attached to the zip of my MacBook Pro sleeve, or looped between the charging block and slide in plug so it's always on me. I use it to charge my iPhone X too.
That’s a possibility. The adaptors are £5.99 on Amazon.

Any carrier can be good or bad, it depends entirely on their coverage in the areas you spend most of your time in. Reviews can be misleading. Hope you aren't left disappointed.
I use Three Mobile. Their deal includes roaming in USA and several countries outside of Europe.
