Perhaps, but after 2 weeks it should have finished re-indexing by now! In fact battery life is getting worse. Rather than the supposed ten hours life (which was optimistic) I’m now seeing about three and a half.

Does anyone know how to go back a version of ibooks?

It updated today & pardon my French, but it’s absolutely st. Change for change’s sake, no functionality improvements - for what I want/use - but a lot of extra faff and bother.

Too much stuff today in the apple architecture seems to be about design, and not functional improvement, while I like my ipad, i’ve no particular loyalty (android phone, windows pc) - I’m either getting more irascible, or Apple just have too much money & spend it on developing brain-farts, rather than developing improvements & functionality.

I want my bookcase back!

Oh please, it's a row of icons! That also have their uses, maybe try a few out, you might actually like them!

They detract from what I want to do - send someone a message.

Exactly, it's now added another step to the process of sending someone a picture.

I don't want another row of pointless icons messing up my tidy message screen either.

Press the button with the arrow pointing at it!

It only hides them though and they come back if you press it again.
