If this was an Apple product they would have shilled it as "yes the screen can easily be damaged, it's a minor niggle and price to pay for being one of the pioneers and nothing that cannot be prevented by Apple's own case, yours only for $399.95. Reasonable price to pay vs the price of the phone itself, Apple did it again, they created the future."
If Apple had released this, it would have been crucified in the press, it’s stock price would have halved and the imminent collapse of the company confirmed.

But it’s not Apple, so meh.

I’m not sure this really matters. We get you don’t like Apple from your previous posts but the point is the product is clearly not fit for use and has had similar reviews and not isolated to a pro Apple site as you claim.

Re Reviewers say it's a hardware issue that needs fixing, Samsung say you shouldn't remove the protection film from the screen and nothing is changing for the production phones, some reviewers didn't remove the film and it still broke.
That sounds like bks from Samsung. If you are not supposed to remove the film, and yet some people did, then clearly you can remove it. If Samsung don't want you to remove it then don't make it removable.

And surely they have a machine that opens and closes the screen constantly to make sure it does not break ?

And they also just look like two phones strapped together, who'd buy that for 2k a pop ?

That people are even purchasing them at $1900 is crazy.

Let's wheel up gringo, where did I mock Apple in this thread please? Since that's the high horse you started pissing from here.

As for my relationship with Apple, I spend heavy on their gear if they drop somethink sikk I will geddit (to speak how a target Apple kustoma speakz). But that doesn't mean I won't criticise them for obvious st moves, that's called objectivity (objectivitey if you're American).

Apple don't have a folding phone last time I checked and look at the design of this phablet. It sucks donkey balls. £2k rofl.

We will soon find out whether it breaks easily.

Anywho, congrats to Samsung. First to market with a turd

The Verge's one didn't break from their own doing. Debris found its way under the screen.

Others have killed theirs by peeling off the top plastic layer, that looks and feels an awful lot like a screen protector.
Because it is? The Galaxy S10 came with them pre-fitted too

It isn't. The top layer on the fold is part of the screen. They can't use gorilla glass like an S10 because it folds, so it's flexible plastic. Some reviewers peeled it off, there were no warnings on the review handsets, Samsung says there will be warnings not to peel the plastic on the production phones.

It's not a screen protector. It's part of the display, which is glass on most phones but as this has a flexible display, is instead made of plastic.

Some of the confusion stems from the fact it looks and feels just like the S10 screen protector, but it is actually a vital component of the display.

EDIT: beaten to it!

Well after a couple of days not even a month people are mad with the new galaxy fold. It was really a promising device but there is something odd about it. I wonder if they will stop producing the product since all I see nowadays are negative reviews from the consumers that bought the smartphone model.
I would rather get myself a Huawei P30 Pro instead of a folding phone.

I can't see a folding screen like that ever having any longevity.

I don't think this is the form factor that's going to work. The Mate X thing looks horrifically vulnerable to ruin.

I'd be interested to see if it ends up heading towards something similar to LG's roll up TV. A screen that can unfurl and be pinned might be a better fit.

The mere process of opening it gives rise to butter fingers.

Really surprised that `Samsung jump the gun on this. I hope they don’t go for a quick fix leaving it less aesthetic. It’s slab sided as is.

It astounds me how a company can get it so wrong, what's happened to all of the quality control leading up to the launch!
