You weren't 'lucky', you lied to defraud a company to get a new phone.
Oh well I'm sure you will get over it at some point.Oh no some guy on the internet has labelled me as scum. How will I sleep at night.
The issues my Nexus XP had were actually OS know issues but if Google customer service were dumb enough to not realise they and issue me a "new" (refurbed) phone that's their issue. No third parties were claimed against, no insurances used and any cars broken so no, it's nothing like people who claim whiplash or break hire cars.

Below is a way to set timers for automatic switching between Light and Dark Themes which some mentioned earlier in the thread.
It involves running a single command using ADB after installing an app, but still might be of interest to some.

For me dark theme came on by default for some reason, I couldn't care less if it was on or off, except for the slight disadvantage that it makes it less obvious when browsing incognito.
Battery life seems to have suffered slightly.
So it has made my life very slightly worse with seemingly no upside.
I certainly don't regret my decision to not go out of my way to get a less tested build on my phone.
Only thing I regret is not postponing the update when it told me it was available.

I'm on the verge of giving up with the new gestures. Too many downsides for me. It makes things at the edges of the screen harder to press, most prominent example being the send button in many messaging apps. I now have to press multiple times to get it to work. Also I sometimes end up going back to the home screen when swiping on the keyboard and I find the animations for going home go between being smooth and being choppy. Still not a great experience for me. Not bad but not quite ready yet.
Overall the update is mixed for me. Apart from that the phone is definitely not as good on battery and the dark theme is hit and miss.

The gestures will come easy for some, not for others.
I was apprehensive about them, and 100% expected to try them for a week and then revert back to button nav.
But I find them pretty slick and won't be going back.
I've been using my old 6P as well as my P2XL for the last two days, and the 6P feels clunky having to use nav buttons. That's shocking after nearly a decade of android use!
I noticed separate updates to Carrier Services and Connectivity Services over the last week. The Connectivity Services update has brought changes and new features in the WiFi settings menu; sharing via QR codes etc (At least I think it has, I hadn't notice them before).
What do people make of the new Share Sheet?
It performs quicker, but previously I'd have options to share directly to frequently used contacts in messaging apps. I've not had them since the new Share Sheet came into effect.
The obsession with placing recent numbers from SMS near the top of the share sheet is a huge waste of space too, for a lot of people I'd imagine.
I haven't used SMS for anything for years now. But because banking transactions, govt weather updates, and telco messages all come in regularly these numbers sit in prominent position on the share sheet.
I know it's because of the continuing use of SMS in the US and Canada and it's a consequence of a mainly US based development team, but a huge proportion of the rest of the world has moved away from SMS. It'd be nice if they tidied this up too.

I like the slide up gesture but I cant get the hang of the back gesture. Its especially annoying when the screen rotates. I find it will go back rather than scrolling through my pictures. So i may revert back to the buttons. Will give it a couple more weeks and see if I get on with it.
Swipe anywhere to scroll through pictures. Not near the edge. My default for years has been a quick flick from the centre of the screen.
My initial gripe was trying to crop photos. But I've adjusted now, having realised I don't have to slide from the photo edge to adjust the crop, just near the edge. It became easy after a few days spent retraining myself that I didn't need to catch the very edge of the pic.

I gave up on the gestures. They're not terrible but I found that buttons near the edges of the screen didn't respond always, presumably due to some kind of edge detection designed to prevent accidental swiping. Also buttons just seem more efficient to me ultimately. I also don't notice as many slow animations using the buttons.
Dark mode appears to be miles behind its iOS equivalent.
Share sheet is faster but just as inconsistent as before with icons often appearing in different places every time you use it.
Finally and not really an android 10 complaint but for the love of God Google create a keyboard with a decent sized space-bar so.i.dont.keep.typing.like.this

Haha I feel your pain, however I don't think its the space bar, think its a setting where the keyboard is trying to work out if you have finished a sentence or not. Edited by TameRacingDriver on Friday 20th September 08:01

Nah I'm pretty sure I'm just hitting the full stop key to the right of the space bar repeatedly!Actually I have in the past suggested on the play store why can we not just have a big space bar, where you can hold down to get the symbols. I suppose you would lose the cursor moving gesture then but I'd love with that!
