I don't mind it either, there's a novelty to it the first time. But if it becomes regular or over done I can find things like that distracting more often than not.

Off topic, but anybody else have an animation in the Google Pill/Search Bar on the homescreen of their Pixel. It first appeared for me yesterday, and is an animation of a spring flower popping up. Ties in with the Google Doodle from today.

I've mixed feelings about random animations appearing on my homescreen. Fine on the Google Search page or my Discover Feed, but not sure I want this to become a regular thing on my phone's homescreen.
Is this just on Q? I don't see anything on my stock Pie Pixel 2.

Here's a post about it, tried to do the long press on the search menu to see if its enabled but all as I get is a paste option.

Thanks for that. At least there's a setting to disable it if you don't want it.

Yeah, there's a paste option, and a three dot menu. The preferences menu option is under the three dot menu. It's obviously a server side setting which Google are testing, as not everybody is seeing it on their devices.

Best you can do is clear the cache and data storage of the Google app and ensure it's on the most recent version and sign into it again. May change something, or it may not.

It's gone now by the way, was definitely only coinciding with 20th March for the beginning of Spring.

The option has literally just appeared, I'm on one of the BETA versions of the Google App.

Apparently it will appear more for Doodles.

So, has anybody actually ran any of the betas so far?
I've just enrolled my P2XL into the beta program and when it's accepted I'll try either the beta 4 this month or beta 5 next month. If there's any bugs which interfere I'll just roll back to current P version.

I never bothered as Barclays have put a bit on their app page now saying it wont be supported till its final. If you have enrolled just go into software updates and press check. it will OTA update.

Beta 4 should be fairly stable now.

It's not authorised my phone for the beta yet. It's enrolled but the beta is not available when checking manual OTA update in the settings menu. After enrolling it did say it could take some time before the beta becoming available. Last couple of times it was available immediately. Currently on P with the June security update.

Will update whenever the beta becomes available to me and I've used it a bit.

They've suspended Beta 4 OTA. It was causing boot-loops on Pixel devices, necessitating a factory reset to allow them to boot again.

That explains that! wink

Lol

My wife has a P10 Lite and it's been running P for a very long time now. I think sometime in March was when it received the update. That's probably it for that device now though. wink
