Clogged nozzle? Not enough filament coming out to stick?
Ah. OK - good thought. I haven't had to check that yet. There seems to be quite a lot - it always does a run down the side of the bed before it starts printing the skirt, and that always sticks - and seems to be the same as always - but I will check that next. Thanks. Dedshott said:
Hey all,
I don't know if anyone has some extraordinary advice to offer - I've got an Ender 3, use Cura as my slicer, and I have printed loads of stuff - using various different PLA's, and for some reason, it just won't print properly. I have levelled the bed a thousand times, and all seems fine - and then it just doesn't stick to the bed any more - after no problems at all. I have changed the bed to a glass one - no diffference. Tried adhesive and hairspray. The filament comes through the extruder, but just piles up on the bed. Anyone got any bright ideas?
If you scroll up a few I was having the same problem, with the same machine. I was using PETG but same principle it wouldn't stick. Im using a special 3d printing glue which is expensive. I think adding rafts in the slicer it was has given me the best results. Forgive the st photo, the printer is currently in the study with no lighting however mine has a camera and you can view the print as it happens in real time keeping an eye out for those pesky fails.......

The picture isn’t much better during the day with daylight but it’s still of interest as I watch a creation being built.[url]

What temperatures ? is the bed warm to the touch before you start ?I don't know if anyone has some extraordinary advice to offer - I've got an Ender 3, use Cura as my slicer, and I have printed loads of stuff - using various different PLA's, and for some reason, it just won't print properly. What is the print speed to ? Layer height ? be aware Cura has separate settings for the initial layer. I ask because Cura 4.6 apparently had some weird profiles that screwed a lot of people's setup up.
When you level the bed have you checked the level with a bit of paper in the centre wehre (presumably) your print starts ? its not unknown for beds to be warped / not flat.
When you level do you use the "move" menu to do it ? just thinking to rule out any z stop issues or binding on the Z screw.
To level the bed you could try these files, watch the video and he'll explain it all https://www.chepclub.com/bed-level.html
If the output doesn't look like the video you could have an extrusion problem (blocked nozzle, slipping drive etc). Note he has a bunch of cura profiles too https://www.chepclub.com/cura-profiles.html

You may be levelling OK but the nozzle is just not close enough to the bed.
The first layer settings in cura are wrong, try to set to 0.3mm or 0.2mm.
Slow the speed for the first layer in cura.
I use a 50 50 pva water mix applied with a cotton wool pad on my glass bed, easy to clean when needed and never fails with PLA.

What's everyone's go to pla filament? So far I've only used esun but they seem to have disappeared over the past couple months. Not sure what to get now.
https://www.3dqf.co.uk/Made in Manchester, good quality, only issues really is they are popular and run out of stock often.

I've gone through several kg matt grey PLA from these guys with good results: https://shop.3dfilaprint.com/pla-199-c.aspI have been happily printing away with no problems. Then last night the prints started lifting when printing the raft. Tried a couple of times, same, then it started print wavy lines.
I checked the bed levelling and it was way out. I reset it and its printing fine again now. But is it normal for it to go so out of whack over time?

Thanks, good to know it need checking often.Different question anyone use Blender ? I started with this as I had a STL file from someone else and I wanted to add to it. So I imported it into Blender, all good.
I've created a cylinder and tapered it in. Now I want to push the face in to pretty much create a shallow bowl type shape. Any ideas how to do this?
I'm not familiar with blender but the other apps all have some form of subtract function.
So get your cylinder and push the face into it, you then usually do something like select both items and hit subtract at which point it will ask which one to remove. You remove the face and it will effectively leave the cylinder with the face material subtracted from it.

Thanks for that it's perfect. Managed to get the desired effect by pushing a sphere into it.So get your cylinder and push the face into it, you then usually do something like select both items and hit subtract at which point it will ask which one to remove.
