I’m hoping they release a smaller version of the iPhone. The 4 was the perfect size for me as it fitted into my shirt pocket and I could close the button to keep it secure.
You have clearly have had that shirt with a small pocket and a button for a while now.

Why not upgrade your shirt and a new iphone? Win win.

Especially on getting a new shirt!

Ha. Have you tried finding shirts with iPhone sized pockets?

Anyway I just prefer a smaller device.

Clearly not the size of an SE and the like, but aren’t the X and XS the same size as a 6, but with a bigger screen and smaller bezels?

Battery capacity driving size now as the OS gets bulkier, newer faster chips etc? Especially after the throttling battery issue. There is a named split between the iPad and iPhone OS, don't know how much under the bonnet. Meaning are we ever going to see a smaller phone because of that.

This X is the same size as the 6s but with a bigger screen, problem is, you can't buy them brand new anymore - only as a refurbished model. It's also much more cost efficient to purchase a brand new 8 than get a refurbished X and even better if you can do a trade in with your current phone.

They really need 5G.

I'm running a 5SE, no sign of a replacement so I'll be sticking with what I've got.

ETA. AND it has a headphone jack, which is a must for me.

Curious but what do you actually need 5G support for?
Probably not much personally. My point was, I can't see them selling too many new phones that aren't 5G ready, in fact 5G is a huge opportunity to shift new phones. Nothing else is 'new' at the moment, no real need to upgrade, 5G will drive sales, even to those who don't really need the speed.

5g seems something looking for a market. I can see more use in the pro world than consumer.

Probably right but from a marketing point of view launching a new phone with the latest technology isn’t great.

It will have uses in stadiums etc. but outside those? I tend to go to concerts or sports events to watch the show not bookfacetimeinstagrabbit or whatever.

Reading there was a to do with the chip makers and trying to shift to a new chip manufacturer hence the delay till 2020.

I doubt anyone will really notice though, 4g will be a round for some time yet, 5g has distance and objects in the way issues. Showing off down the pub as to how fast you can download a film vs real world use, often tech takes a turn unexpected. Texting was never meant to be a thing.

These are the people who will probably benefit more, not us. But we will get the end result.

Apple will do what they usually do; wait until the technology has matured further and then implement it. Until 5G is more widely available and they can offer phones with decent battery life they won't jump in.

Then go with the XS which is smaller than the X, and available new.

Anyone waiting on headphone jacks or iPhone 4 sized phones is going to be waiting a long time if they want an iPhone.

This model cycle is usually the one I buy (4S, 5S, 6S, X) so I am keen to see what they do.

You are probably right here, the XS is 5mm larger than the 6s so good call.

It is such a big step forward it is worth 5mm all day long.

You could save a lot of money buying a X though if you buy out right. I paid comfortably under 500 for mine 6 months a go, I think it was 450.

Also, if apple want the XR range to do better they need to stop being dicks about including legacy features like force touch.

So exactly the same phone with a slightly faster processor and another camera lens. No wonder the chief designer left, he must have had nothing to do all day.

Pity I was expecting at least a coffee maker or a kitchen sink.

There’s the problem. What else can a phone/device be designed to do?

My sister is in the states at the moment. Apple Watch Series 4 is $350 - quite annoying that we get our pants pulled down and have to pay more here?

I bought my Apple Watch 4 in the USA. To be fair the difference is largely the VAT.
