I had an old 6S done a few years ago for free when they had a batch of faulty phones. It took an hour at one one of their stores. The wife’s getting a new battery in her 7 this week, see how that goes!
Was the battery in the 6S after it was changed just like new i.e. lasting hours upon hours? Let us know how the wife gets on, I'll probably get it changed at the start of next year.
Yes, battery was great after it was swapped, my daughters got the phone now and it’s still going, must be 4 years since the battery change.

I changed the battery in my daughters 6, I got the battery from Amazon for about £15, it took me about 15 minutes which included heating up and removing the adhesive that held the old battery in place. Night and day difference in battery charge.

The iPhone 7 doesn't look so easy as it the screen looks bonded to the case and it's all IP rated, I think to do it properly you'd need specialist kit rather than going diy (assuming you want to keep the IP rating)

Which makes the £49 from Apple pretty good going off it’s for phones above the 7.

Has anyone replaced the battery in an old iPhone through Apple? Currently got an iPhone 8 which is perfectly fine but the battery % health is at 83%, so it doesn't last too long. I've been thinking about sticking a new battery in it for £45 from Apple and using it for another year.

I had my 7 done this year. Battery life was down to low 60%! It’s fine not but I had a chip on the screen which cracked the screen when they changed it. They won’t replace the screen foc if there is any damage on it. Fair enough but they won’t offer a discount on the screen either so the screen is an additional £160 over the battery cost.

No damage on my screen other than a couple of light scratches. I'm booked in for tomorrow so will see what they say, wouldn't surprise me if they refuse, cheeky buggers.

The wife had her 7 done today, apart from her moaning because she thought they’d at least put a full battery in (it was on 20% charge) she seems pleased and it’s lasting better than before.

They put a brand new battery in. I had my 6S done twice, made a good bit of difference. Only had it done twice because it was cheap.

I will have the X done as well I expect at some point.

One thing I have changed now is I don't leave the phone on charge over night, and rarely charge over 90%.

I thought they introduced intelligent charging where it it will stop the charge once it gets to a certain percentage? Or is that only on the new phones?

You can have it so it learns your sleep pattern, charges to 80% (I think) and then bumps it to 100% before you wake up.

My habits have changed now so I don’t really need it. I usually charge to 85-95% before I sleep.

I usually top it up again at my desk in the afternoon so it rarely drops below say 35% or above 95%.

My issue is that I need my phone at work a lot of the time, so it needs to be charged even if it's not charged to 100%. I will let you all know how I get on with the battery change later. My contract ends in January, so will be swapping to sim only and keeping my 8 (hence the need for a battery replacement)

I bought an iPhone 11 recently and asked the Apple Store Aberdeen to replace the battery in my iPhone 8. That cost about £49 and I had lunch while it was being done. My daughter now uses this phone and battery life is excellent again. If you made an appointment at an Apple store, it need not take too long and it seems to me that your existing phone can soldier on for several more years with a new battery.

Years ago, I had an iPhone battery fitted by a high street "specialist". The phone never really worked properly again and I only saved a tenner or so by going this route. Definitely avoid for such a small saving.

Well I went to my appointment, they replaced the battery but when I went back they informed me that they'd broken the touchpad and it would no longer work. Fortunately they said they would just replace the whole phone with a new one (I'm assuming it's probably a refurbished one, but hey ho). The workers said they were that busy they didn't have time to mess around replacing the touchpad, so this was the easiest option. So I've now got what appears to be a brand new iPhone 8 for the cost of £49. That suits me! My contract runs out in January, so will be swapping over to sim only.

Thank God I backed up my data onto my laptop last night btw, I was considering risking it because it was only a simple battery change, what could possibly go wrong?

Same happened with my wife’s iPhone 7 6 or so months back.

Curry’s have a deal on atm. £30 off and if you have perks through your employer you can get 10% off Curry’s atm. My wife is upgrading to an 11 from her 7.

11 cost £675
Selling the 7 128GB to my mum for £140.

Looking at getting Apple Watch 5 via Currys work perk 10% off
Is it a worthwhile step up from a 3?

Cheers
I picked up today, 10% off was handy!
I opted for the cellular version as good when out running as an oldie. Also helped it get past the home accountant as good to have in an emergency wink
Added bonus was 6 months free subscription when I linked it up to Vodafone via the watch app, took all of 5 mins (£7 a month after)
The bigger & better display is a lot better than the 3. I’ll move on the old one but worth peanuts now, will give it away to a friend
