Bump... Anyone had the fluctuating volume issue on their p30pro... And if you did, dod you find a solution?
Oh.. the what now?
Some folks have reported (mine does it too) issues where you set the volume to listen to something on the phone speaker (you tube, audible, seem to be worst culprits) and after an inconsistent period of time the volume drops to very low levels. Doesn't do it on headphones using a dac. It's a PITA.

I'd hoped it would have been resolved by now but it persists.

I've tried:

  • Turning off bat optimisation.
  • Turning on / off dolby, different dolby settings.
  • Turning on / off screen.
It's not a showstopper to the level I wouldn't recommend the phone... But it's a PITA if you listen to Audiobooks before bed.

Ahhh, I rarely use the speaker, but I'll look in to it.

As an aside, have you tried the "no bat" setting? hehe

I've had this issue since new. Total pain as I was a lot of youtube on it throughout the day & typically for a couple hours in bed. It's not a binary swap either, it's a smooth drop down so depending on what you're listening to it could take a second to notice. You turn up the volume to compensate, then go in to a different app, go back and now it's at full pelt. It's such a strange issue. I've got used to it but it is a complete pain.

Is yours an early model or more recent. Mine was a day 1 purchase as I wanted the free sonos speaker.

Can anyone recommend a decent case that doesn't let loads of dust and other crap get under it.

I've got a cheap clear case and it's crap. I don't particularly want a full on life proof case and certainly don't want a flip open wallet type.

It's difficult to tell from the Amazon descriptions.

Cheers

I've got this. Well made and has saved my phone a couple of times.

I've got an official Huawei one for mine. It does get dust in it sometimes but I'm a sad git and enjoy cleaning it every few days.

I never use cases but it's a neccessary purchase for these, so thin and slippy. Ooer.

I bought a Spigen for mine, dropped it accidentally today onto a hard tiled floor from 3 foot, not a mark!

Had the Spigen delivered today also.

Fitted it, and still wish I didn't have to have one.

It's so much nicer out of the case... But it's just so slippery slidey

Lost patience waiting for contract to finish, so ordered a 'like new' p30 pro from o2, £386. Coming tomorrow, had to take out a contract but will cancel it straight away.

Now to get a case.

Only a cheapo case, but this has, so far, been brilliant - Clear, thin, slightly raised edges and makes the phone nice to feel in the hand.

https://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/B07PWWR5FR/

On the other hand - Is it me or is the phone a dust magnet?

That's the case that I have, it's great as it still shows the phone off but is also protects it well too.

I have mine in the Spigen "rugged armour" - weighs a lot and adds a fair bit of mass generally while leaving the screen nicely available. It always seems to be cheaper than the slim armour.

That said I miss the little "kick stand" in the slimmer Spigen case that I had on my last phone, very handy for watching videos.

My wife's due a new phone next month, normally I'd push her into the latest and greatest but I still think the P30 Pro is holding up perfectly well today against the competition.

I saw this deal but the add-on contract was extortionate. Wasn't aware you could cancel it. Thoughts so far?
