Unless you have a hill next to the village, its incredibly small and deserted you're going to run into issues.Check out the site for licencing and see what the criteria for flying is.
I was just thinking I should have a drone and what would I use it for and I'd probably want to be able to launch it from the garden to inspect the house or see what's going on around. Then my mind wandered and I wondered if I could make it follow my kids to the park, or go and see if the traffic is bad, or check on my friend's building project, or bother them when they're mowing the grass. Perhaps I could program it to track the people that let their dogs s
t everywhere, detect the turd and follow them home. When it snows I could send it over to the hill to see if the cool kids are around for sledging without having to venture out in the cold perhaps.It is a pretty small village surrounded by hills.

You should get about 500m range out of the Mini 1 and I think that as the Mini 2 uses Occusync then you will get quite a bit more. However the drone code says that you need to keep it in site all the time and I found it difficult to see over about 200m especially in a grey sky.

Thanks, that's good to know if I ever buy one. 200m is probably enough to for me, I'd have to launch from the park to maintain line of sight though unless it stayed high. How low can you go? I have an FCC model I bought in HCMC and using it in Europe was a totally different experience to abroad. Range is restricted even on beaches. Worst place was Greenham common, almost unusable. Compared to my Rockpile video in VN it wasn't worth the effort unless it was close range video. Apart from the range restrictions its great.Edited by UVB-76 on Friday 14th January 14:56

Just had the first flight with the mini 2 around tonight, first time flying a drone and really surprised how easy and stable it was to fly, only got up about 80m and maybe 100 m out but going to have another voyage tomorrow 
Good pic. We took ours out for the first time yesterday and I was also impressed how ‘easy’ they are to fly. It was quite windy too and the drone (Mini 2) was really stable.

The DJI Mini 3 Pro is likely to be released imminently and based on the hands on leaked footage looks to have an upgraded camera, collision avoidance and longer range and flight time whilst still keeping under 250g.
I'm thinking about donating my Mini 1 to the war effort in Ukraine and upgrading as long as it comes in at under £500, the jump from the Mini 1 to the 2 wasn't big enough for me but the 3 pro is meant to have decent low light performance which is my main bugbear as currently unless it's on a sunny day using ND filters then the image quality isn't that great.

I hope they bring out a non pro version with same quad-copter but allows you to use your phone instead as the dji app is pretty polished and it works well currently with the workflow of getting media off the drone easily for sharing.[url]

Is flying in the USA now or less restrictive than the UK? Use on holiday might just tip the balance of a purchase!
Swings 7 roundabouts - you get to use FCC radio power levels ( which mean longer range/more reliable link ) but can fall foul of the FAA if you publish your video on YouTube etc. without the proper licensing Is flying in the USA now or less restrictive than the UK?
