That was pretty much the only thing that was bothering me, and stopping a purchase. Oh dear.red_slr said:
That really is very very impressive..... now.... how to convince the wife Edited by thebraketester on Thursday 7th November 17:42
My Mavic Pro struggles in wind, not so much about it being a steady platform as the gimble is brilliant , the problem always seems to be if you're coming back into wind it really struggles.
The mini drone will be a nightmare, and would be a worry if it had to come back over a fair distance into wind. The battery life would take a beating.
Also a point to remember is that the wind at ground level can be vastly different 100-300 feet above you. Also the DJI App will limit the height you can go
That aside, I really like the Mavic Mini, the spec and the price are incredible.

Few range tests coming through from the US, the US version in clear LOS and low noise conditions is starting to drop out around 4000m. That's pretty crazy. Great to have that level of confidence so if you happen to fly behind a tree by mistake at 250m you know you will not lose radio contact.
There only seems to be one UK / EU version which has been range tested and the range was reported as 500m which is a bit of a shame because in high noise environments it will probably be a lot less. Also if you happen to visit a country where there are no laws about LOS then you are still going to be pretty restricted with 500m range while the US version reaches out 8 times further.
I just hope the US don't get a superdooper version and us Brits get the toy version.
FCC'ing it will be a must I suppose. I have a Mavic Air and it's pretty poor on CE unless you're in the middle of nowhere, I imagine this will be similar. I do like the look of the Mini but having an Air and a Pro 2 I think my bases are already covered. Does it have Waypoints?

While I'm in agreement with No Fly Zones and Altitude Limits restricting us to CE is just annoying, it does turn them into toys.

I'll wait a bit and see what the first owners say.
Don't get me wrong I only intend to be sensible, but I'm more concerned that if the range is 500m in perfect conditions, it will no doubt be much less when things are less than perfect. At least if you get 4000m of range, you can more or less guarantee that it'll be stable at half that figure.

Are NoLimitDronez legit? Menaing it's not going to brick my drone (DJI Spark)While I'm in agreement with No Fly Zones and Altitude Limits restricting us to CE is just annoying, it does turn them into toys.

I'm frustrated with the crap range and fancy the NoLimit "hack", does anyone have any epxerience of it?

2-3 weeks wait for the fly bundle on amazon :-(
Its the same from DJI too.I think some model shops might have already had a delivery and will start selling today but I don't know what price.
I would rather buy direct from DJI, although I note the new app is not live yet which is a bit strange.

I'm not sure what all the fuss is about, surely all current Mavic drones sold in the UK are also subject to CE range limitations? No they use OcuSync 2.0 which is a different standard and a bit more resilient.
In CE mode its good for 5000m in clear low noise conditions, most people achieve >2km even with a big noise floor and clutter - where law permits of course.
Edit to add - that all said we wont really know till we see some more range tests of the mini as a sample size of 1 is not really enough.
