No they use OcuSync 2.0 which is a different standard and a bit more resilient.

In CE mode its good for 5000m in clear low noise conditions, most people achieve >2km even with a big noise floor and clutter - where law permits of course.

Edit to add - that all said we wont really know till we see some more range tests of the mini as a sample size of 1 is not really enough.

How far can you fly a small drone like this without seeing it though? Having never flown one, I couldn't imagine taking it out of line of sight and I image I'd lose sight of it a long way before 500m.

IME once you are over 100m it becomes difficult to see the orientation (i.e nose and tail). Beyond 200m its just a spec.

I would say the majority of people who fly this type of drone use the FPV screen on the controller to actually fly the thing.

Check out the videos in YT.... the answer is, "a long way" (well.... on the FCC version)

Are NoLimitDronez legit? Menaing it's not going to brick my drone (DJI Spark)

I'm frustrated with the crap range and fancy the NoLimit "hack", does anyone have any epxerience of it?
"My friend" has used them with no problem at all.
For him it's about range, you can forget what the specs say, unless you're in the middle of the Gobi Desert you aren't going to get the quoted distance so CE is very frustrating.
Some of the latest firmware updates from DJI prevent you from ever rolling back so you have to be sure that your controller doesn't connect to any external WiFi and start updating.

NLD doesn't do everything for every drone so it might not offer much depending on your model, if you look at the Bird Map on their site you can see what's available.

FWIW when I called Drones Direct the guy I spoke to said they only had about 15 units of the fly more pack left from their first allocation. Apparently they are due in on Weds / Thurs so should be out the door Thursday night for Friday / Monday delivery.. I will report back if that happens!!

After much back and forth, I'm looking at picking up the Fly More pack once there is stock. I get a few % off at Curry's via a work scheme so will keep on eye on their stock.

I was looking at google maps and embarrassingly never actually realised how far 500m is in the real world whistle That seems like more than enough for my first foray into the skies.

Anyone actually managed to get there hands on one yet?

Not yet. Although I have just found the fly more kit in stock (I think) at the local Argos.

Looks like the standard unit is in stock in most places but the fly more combo is selling out.

I guess most people will want the fly more pack so might be a bit of a wait for that.
