I've had this same problem with a wireless mouse.

Switching the mouse off (mine has a power button on the underside) enables the PC to sleep.

I have no idea why it does this - and in my case this only happens perhaps 80% of the time.

I unplugged the mouse and it made bugger all difference.

Because I'm clutching at straws, I'll turn the mouse off, rather than unplugging the dongle...

I've resorted to having the bd sleep when I close the lid. It's a PITA, because I have to log back on every time I want to use it rather than just wiggle the mouse to turn the screen back on, but it's that or throw the fker out of the window, so....

Next time buy a Lenovo. 7+ times I had to cook my Dell POS with a heatgun to reflow the crappy motherboard joints, in the end I gave up a bought a Lenovo which has been flawless used 5 days a week for years.

One suggestion though - have you tried the Restart option, then see if there are any windows updates wanting to complete? I found on 2 PCs that Windows would sometimes refuse to turn off until I set it to restart instead, whereupon it seemed to get itself unfked and work properly again.

I've used Dells for years, with no reliability problems, and the only Lenovo I had was ugly, heavy and slow. smile

I've restarted the stupid thing three or four times this week to try to resolve this issue, so it's definitely UTD.

My ThinkPad T470 has worked fine for 2yrs but seems to have gone iffy in the last 2-3 weeks - odd things not working, such as switching into projection mode, losing wifi, and programs not opening. Each time needs a restart.

Maybe it's been affected by recent big OS update? I don't use sleep but mine still goes into screensaver mode then turns off the screen OK. I'm sure the Windows power button has changed recently, so maybe Microsoft have done something in the power area.

Let's get back to basics rather than all these stabs in the dark.

Screen prints of all your Power options settings screens please.

Looking at the update history for mine it did an Intel driver update on the 7th Dec - so maybe it's done something like that?

I had no idea on mine - there was no pop-up, or notice when when shutting down, as there often is. But it's there in the update history.

I didn't shut mine down either, I just put it into sleep.

Anyway, it's working again now.

I changed the screen off to 20 minutes, rather than the default 10, and the 's stopped working again.
