There are those who stuff is completely beyond them, but the ones I struggle with are the I could do it but it looks like a right faff, I will get that bloke to do it as he really loves it, when actually we just feel obligated because we have been asked.

Then there is that risk something goes wrong and you lose their photos/porn collection etc.

The funniest one is older folk who have a Tiny/Amstrad/Elonex/Time/Mesh PC that they want you to look at, replete with CRT Monitor, Turbo Button and mouse (with a ball !), its all gone yellow and they turn it on and you see the Windows 98 boot screen ! They ask you earnestly if you can do anything with it, you suggest a skip but they paid over a 1000 pounds for it. You see these on eBay for sale, includes everything including the bloody desk. My wifes auntie always uses the "nice local computer chap" who rinses her for hundreds for the crappiest pc you have ever seen, one had the cpu hard wired to the motherboard, never seen that before or since, then I get to sort it out,

People offer me their old kit, in the past I used to take it but I cant think of anything I want now less than ancient desktops and laptops, got a stock of half decent ones, gone are the days of a garage full of various knackered base units, skipped loads a couple of years back.

She is 80. Am I being too harsh?
She likes it when you go around and looks for excuses to ask you.

I noticed a sign on a rug shop the other day that said "looking for part-time shop assistant - must be good with computers".

Good with computers in what way? How good? What sort of computer skills do you need to work in a rug shop? Did they really mean you just needed to be under the age of about 60 and be able to operate Word and internet browsers?
I know it's a bit old fashioned and you'd probably rather have tweeted or snapchatted them, but going in to ask would have answered your question perfectly, I reckon.
Ah, the old "good with people". But what kind of people? Tall people, short people, lady people, librarian people???? Hmmmmmm?
