Garmin Fenix 6

That's how I feel. If you want a smart watch (and have an iPhone) Apple Watch is by far the best option. If you want a sports watch Garmin (Fenix) is the best. Their features overlap, but for me aren't direct competitors.
I wear the Fenix day to day for steps, calories, sleep, body battery metric. I run with the Fenix on one wrist and an Apple Watch on the other so I can leave my phone at home, stream music and have a way to make contact in an emergency. When I cycle I use my Garmin Edge. When I swim I use the Fenix. When I do a triathlon I record it all on the Fenix, but will also use the Edge on the bike leg. When I want to wear a nice watch, I've got a Vivosport to wear on the opposite wrist to record the health metrics.
Shame the Vivosport hasn't been updated to include Body Battery...I wear the Fenix day to day for steps, calories, sleep, body battery metric. Yeah, that seems excessive!
For me, I have my phone and my fenix.
That does everything I need, never feels like an inconvenience - and I can't even be arsed to grab a 'dress watch' for formal functions (if they existed!), I'll just change the watch face to something traditional and relatively classy.

Agreed. I'd even buy a new one if they included it. Sway said:

No doubt it's overkill, but best tools for the job... Fenix is great for running and swimming, but the music side isn't so great and I'd need to take a phone in case of emergencies. For me the screen is too small and in the wrong place (wrist not ahead of me) for cycling. Sometimes it's nice to just wear a mechanical watch, but I still want to record some data. For me, I have my phone and my fenix.

I forgot to say that when I'm doing training rides outdoors, I also have a Garmin radar and Varia vision HUD

How do you make an offer there...?
Edit: ebay?
There's a little link on the item page. Edit: ebay?
Shows how much margin is in these watches, that's for sure. I don't want to know now if I could've gotten my 6X Pro Solar any cheaper, although I was pleased with £674!

Not overly impressed with my fenix 6 as yet. It seems to be massively under reading distance. Over the last couple of weeks i've done a few runs in a group and my watch under reads by about 0.5 miles (over a 3.5 mile run - so a large %) when compared to other peoples watches.
I've tried changing a few settings such as the GPS mode (all different options) and the data sampling rate (it was set to smart but i've changed to every second) but no improvement yet. Any suggestions?

I've just looked at two recent activities. A 5 miles walk and 12 miles bike ride and plotted both out using strava routes and there is around .1 mile discrepancy on both which could be any number of things. I'd agree that .5 miles on a 3.5 run is not right. What does the map trace look like compared to what you actually ran? My wife has a Garmin Vivoactive and whenever we walk together my Fenix 6 is always records anywhere between .3 and .5 mile less than what her device does so its strange that yours is over by such a large amount.I've tried changing a few settings such as the GPS mode (all different options) and the data sampling rate (it was set to smart but i've changed to every second) but no improvement yet. Is the software upto date?

Yeah the trace looks normal, no jumping or gaps from what I can see. Very similar to the other people's traces too bizarrely. I have a 10 mile properly measured race this weekend so I will see what it says I do. I have noticed that in even slightly covered or wooded areas my pace according to the watch drops off massively according to the watch. It should be up to date but I will check that there isn't an update outstanding. Is the software upto date?
Have you tried uploading from your Gamin to Strava and see what that shows? I sometimes find Strava shows a slightly different distance to Garmin, might be a way of checking if it's a dodgy calculation rather than a dodgy GPS fix.
When you say you've tried all the GPS settings, I assume that includes trying GLONASS and GALILEO?

Yeah, my runs always sync automatically to Strava. The pace usually goes up a little bit but not the distance. Yep tried both GLONASS and GALILEO although didn't notice any difference. When you say you've tried all the GPS settings, I assume that includes trying GLONASS and GALILEO?
