Having gone from a touch screen 610 to a button only Fenix 5s, I really don't see the benefit of touch screen over buttons
How much extra life do the solar ones get in real world use? The battery on my 5s is st (5 days as a watch, 5 hours GPS and music) so I can see the point if it really does extend the life a decent amount. An extra £200 or so for Saphire and solar does sound a bit steep, and as above no sapphire but not solar option? Mines a few years old now and not a mark on it so the sapphire is worth having IMO.
Solar is negligible, at best normal daily drain is counteracted by a full day in the sun. However, battery life between the 5 and the 6 is a significant upgrade. How much extra life do the solar ones get in real world use? Mine’s on the latest version, pretty sure I updated through Express about two weeks ago.
I’m pretty much sold on the Epix, I can sacrifice a bit of battery life for the better display. And even a 6 day battery life is far superior to anything Apple produce.
Just need to find the cheapest place and maybe sell my 6x Solar Titanium to partially fund the new one.

I've been looking for a Garmin watch for the body battery, and using with bike and hiking. I usually use my phone with OS Maps installer and a backup powerbank (and paper map) but thought if it was good enough I could use the maps on the Garmin on the fly so I'm not stopping and starting pulling my phone out. I don't have it mounted on the bars.
I understand it's hard to read the maps on the Garmin so maybe I should go for the 6s non map option? Is it worth the mapping or not?
I'd disagree with the last comment. I've a 6x solar and the maps are excellent. Far better than Google maps. They show routes that Google doesn't I understand it's hard to read the maps on the Garmin so maybe I should go for the 6s non map option? Is it worth the mapping or not?
