Have a look on the Apple site. You can buy a refurbished iPad for good deals

You can get a brand new 7th Gen iPad (32gb) for £349 from Apple ( or £319 from John Lewis) - but they're running the older/slower A10/M10 chips.

The Air & Pro are more expensive (at least £100 more) for the latest models - but they do have a much better specs:
  • processor/coprocessor (A12/M12 vs the A10/M10)
  • front camera (7mp vs 1.2mp)
  • true tone vs normal display (with wider colour range)
  • etc.
If you're happy go to a generation older then you may be lucky and find a smaller capacity (32/64GB) 2nd Gen iPad Pro 10.5 or 6th Gen iPad in budget.

I bought a (2nd Gen) 10.5" iPad Pro 64GB wi-fi in 2017 (about 30% faster than the normal iPad of the time due to the A10X chip - which has 3 processor cores over the 2 in the A10, and 12 graphic cores vs 6), and it's still going strong - and there's no signs of slowing down or incompatibilities in anything I've installed.

If you're happy with buying a 2nd hand item from ebay then this is probably the cheapest way to get one. You may get lucky and have one with very minor wear, or you may end up with one with scratches/digs/screen scuffs.

The Air is almost £85 cheaper from the same supplier but the iPad Air Gen 2 is 3 years older (has an A8 processor) than the iPad Pro Gen 2 (A10 processor)...or about 1/2 as fast as the iPad Pro - and is probably due to drop out of Apple's software support shortly (it's almost 6 years old now).
