Although this is a compact keyboard I’d like to go smaller, having trialed losing the number pad I’m now ready to lose the function row and use hot keys instead so on the hunt.

Planck could be an option.

Preonic if you want numbers.

I bought this Drevo keyboard https://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/B078GBVNQ5/ about 18 months ago. I really like the feel of the "brown" switches, not too clicky-loud, the TKL format (no number pad) is much better for me, stable and solid base. It has silly lights, but you can just set them to be white once booted.
I have a Keychron K8 (not the Pro) with Gateron Brown switches, had it for around a year now and I like it. I have tape modded it, lubed the stabilisers and put a double shot PBT key cap set on it, from Keychron, that has really improved the sound and feel.
The mechanical keyboard scene goes quite deep though, and I am likely to jump on the new Zoom TKL bandwagon when the group buy opens in November - https://www.reddit.com/r/mechmarket/comments/y6f7a...
Switch wise for that, I actually quite fancy the new Cherry MX Ergo Clear switch, but will need to try them out first.

Bought a brown key Logitech mechanical keyboard, without number pad as I use a Speed Editor for video editing.

I'm a touch typist and, remarkably, it speeds my typing. Not massively so, but significantly.
I gave it four stars as I can't turn the lights off - no instructions - and it is bright white. Otherwise it is excellent.
£129. A bit pricey I think, but not too much so.

Can't you at least turn them down with the brightness button above F4 ?
Thanks for that.Yes, I can. But if I don't use the keyboard for 15 mins or so, it reverts to default, as it does when I switch off the computer. I know it's not a lot of bother, especially as I don't look at the keyboard when I'm typing.
I know I've negated my criticism.
Nice keyboard though. No missed letters. That's just tremendous.

Hmm, those yellow keys would solve my need for backlighting.
I also use a ScreenBar light if I'm working in the dark, not that I really ever look at the keyboard anyway. The colour scheme was designed to mirror my PC.
IIRC it was something like $65 plus shipping for a 105 key custom set from WASD. I think I had a 10 or 15% discount code at the tine, but the shipping was pretty steep.
My razer blackwidow has started failing (dropping keystrokes, double/triple pressing keys etc.) so I'm in the market for a replacement. Has anyone had experience of the Das keyboards - https://www.daskeyboard.com/ ?
I'm currently drawn to the Das Pro 6 with Cherry MX Blues although it doesn't seem to be in stock anywhere at the minute (overclockers are accepting preorders however).
