3440x1440 in this case
In that case, DP 1.2 will run it at 60Hz (plenty).Handy chart:

But, I wouldn't recommend trying to run a game on it

I'm getting lost in all this pixel stuff.
I have a new macbook pro 2560 x 1600 and Intel Iris Plus Graphics 645 1536 MB graphics (whatever that means).
I've just taken delivery of a iiyama XB3270QS-B1 32" (2560 x 1440) https://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/B078W9DL4Q/ref...
It's untested/not opened as the office isn't ready yet.
I'd really quite like one of the Ultra Wide monitors (coz new, bigger and I think would work well for Serato DJ). These run at 3440 x 1440
https://www.amazon.co.uk/iiyama-ProLite-ultra-wide...
Is there any problem running the ultrawide from my macbook (it would need to be via thunderbolt 3 to HDMI)???
If you haven't opened it yet, I'd send it back. Not trying to be an arse, just giving you an advice based on personal experience. I have a new macbook pro 2560 x 1600 and Intel Iris Plus Graphics 645 1536 MB graphics (whatever that means).

For at least 4/5 generations macOS has been re-designed to look best on "retina" displays, i.e. 4k+. The bigger the size, (32inch is BIG for 1440p) the bigger the pixels the sttier the macOS quality output. If you were on Windows i.d. say you would be ok (still grainy but Windows does much better job at making things look smooth on low res panels).
If you want 32 inch you need 4k. Or get the same wide ultraHD screen as 768 if you want widescreen (I'm guessing his is 34WK95U as there's not much choice at that resolution).
My personal experience is based on 2 screens which I had to return after plugging in my MBP and being blown away by how st the picture was. After spending hours on research and 50gbp+ on cables and accessories I decided to return both and go for 4k.
My wife works from home 100% so has the home office. Converted a bedroom for me in lockdown and put together something to make life easier. Still working on the main box which is Dual Xeon with 48GB booting from a 500GB NVMe, (currently SSD as it installs to NVMe but can’t make the bugger boot - winload.efi error if anyone has any ideas).
Very happy but might have gone a bit crazy on the screens that are vastly larger than the desk!

Forgive my ignorance, but why do some of you chaps need 3 screens simultaneously ? Can you give some examples please ?
When using multiple programs I can keep them all visible at the same time. In particular it can be useful to have our main program open along with the database software and SQL connection window as well as being able to monitor emails coming in. I am considering a 4th monitor to go above currently, (my wife will blow her stack but I bet I do it anyway), so that I can have a dedicated TV screen out of my main eyeline.I plan to use this for some games like a flight sim so 3 screens is also great for that.

I love it when giving training. - I've got one screen that's everything I'm presenting,
- one half with the course material I'm giving, one half with the faces and chat of the trainees
- half an extra browser window other half email.

Ha, not being an arse at all, I'm here looking for advice. Thanks.
Just to show an example (same panel I had on one of the 2 screens I returned)Source:

I've spent the last 20 years wanting more and more screen real estate. Now in my early 40s, I've realised it was the cause of back/neck pain.If you need to monitor lots of stuff without really interacting with it, then it can be great to have everything visible.
If you actually get stuck into working on something, it's very easy to spend a few hours working on something off to the side, and before you know it you have a stiff neck.
I'm back to a single screen now, straight in front of me. Best thing I've ever done for long days sitting at a desk.

In day to day working, it’s handy having lots of things visible at once especially when multi-tasking, monitoring things and also having somebody present in a teams meeting all at the same time. I usually have several different outlook windows (different mailboxes), onenote, a handful of admin consoles, Remote Desktop sessions and a couple of dozen browser tabs active even when I’m not doing much.rowley birkin said:

Email account on one, web/browser on one, software on third. I only have two but if I had space for a third I would. One big monitor just isn’t the same.

One of my tasks is data entry, so I have that software on screen one, the original I am copying from on screen two, and conversion tables etc on screen 3.
When comparing 2 sheets, sheet one on screen one, sheet 2 on screen two, email getting bashed out on screen 3 explain that no, end dates cannot be before start dates, can't you think!!!!
Though to be fair it often descends to a bit of Binky or MCM or Mustie1 or Tally Ho or Acorn to Arebela on a window in a corner of a side screen, and teams or email behind it.
I'm more used to two screens, main data on one, an email explain that data getting bashed out on screen two. Getting used to 3 now!

1 screen for email to process enquires.1 screen for spreadsheets to look things up (options. costs, availability etc).
1 screen to update CRM.
1 screen for streaming news, radio etc
Obviously can do it on 1 screen and <Alt Tab> my way through everything but easier to use the 4.

I remain unconvinced multiple screens are that necessary. Common/Vanilla things like Social Media/Office/Browsing don't all need to be full screen, especially on those 2/4k screens. I think there's more than a little Willie waving on these ' I must have 3 monitors as an absolute minimum' No one needs a whole monitor to exclusively look at emails for example. If you need to monitor lots of stuff without really interacting with it, then it can be great to have everything visible.

Then again, it's their money so if it's a feelgood/keeping up with the Jones's thing fair enough.

I'm with you on that. I've tried 2 monitors at work and found even that to be overkill. I ended up ditching one and using my laptop screen instead for those rare times that it does come in handy, as I actually found having more physical desk space more useful instead of being taken up by screens I didn't need. Then again, it's their money so if it's a feelgood/keeping up with the Jones's thing fair enough.
Now I'm at home it's just one big screen and it's more than ample. As with you I find having a dedicated screen just for emails unnecessary; the outlook icon on the taskbar tells me when I have an email and I just click on it, read it then go back to what I was doing before. I have more than enough screen to have more than one thing on display at a time. Virtual desktops allow me to segregate tasks very easily.
For certain jobs and industries then yes I get that multiple screens are desirable or essential, but I'd hazard for most it's not necessary and possibly a way of showing how busy or important they are without any material productivity benefits in evidence. Indeed at my firm now they've agreed to supply work from home staff with monitors but they have to prove how it will increase their productivity before it's approved...
There are many different jobs and therefore requirements.
For me, one big screen works best, but I've read convincing arguments from others that multipole screens are better for them. I don't game, I don't do super hi res graphics work, I don't need to screen share with others etc.
How many ovens does a kitchen need ? How much power does a family saloon need ? Can an SUV be justified if you live in a city ? How many bedrooms do you need in your house ? etc etc

Following my earlier posts, I’m struggling to find any monitors in stock for delivery in the next few days. I’ve stumbled across these two on Amazon and wondered whether anybody had any input/comments on them?
Thanks
