One is a bit big for QHD - the sweet spot for that is about 27" IMO. The other is 4K, so you'd almost certainly be scaling significantly.
Work out your desired size and resolution, and then start looking for a particular monitor.
Have you said what screen you have at the minute, if you're using any degree of scaling, and if you're happy with the size everything is on screen?

I remain unconvinced multiple screens are that necessary. Common/Vanilla things like Social Media/Office/Browsing don't all need to be full screen, especially on those 2/4k screens. I think there's more than a little Willie waving on these ' I must have 3 monitors as an absolute minimum' No one needs a whole monitor to exclusively look at emails for example.
Then again, it's their money so if it's a feelgood/keeping up with the Jones's thing fair enough.
Since you brought it up, yes one needs a whole monitor to look at an email client, to see everything one needs to see at a glance, since email clients serve multiple purposes not only email and for me I have 4 panels on all the time which allow me to be productive. Then again, it's their money so if it's a feelgood/keeping up with the Jones's thing fair enough.
To me 2 screens is optimal, but sometimes I'd want a 3rd one - exactly so that I could have it exclusively for the email client and the other 2 for other things.

You’re confusing needs with wants. I work far more comfortably with a large amount of screen space, than I do without. That’s at that matters. Then again, it's their money so if it's a feelgood/keeping up with the Jones's thing fair enough.

A whole 1080p monitor? Or whole 4k? 5k? 6k? 8k?How much of the day so you spend using your email client?
I get about 200 a day. Too much is the answer your question on how much time is spent.
While we are on the topic of monitors -
I have a 25” WQHD monitor which sits alongside a pretty standard 1080p one I was issued with from work. The work issue one seems remarkably dull side by side - is there a way around this? I’ve tried messing around with all the hardware controls and logged it with IT who tried the usual bits and pieces but none of it has made much of a difference.
Secondly - scaling is mentioned in here - where can I turn this on? I think I’m running both monitors at 1080 when I could potentially ramp up the main one to 1440 with scaling (at least to try it out)

Assuming you are in windows 10. Right click on the desktop anywhere and then go to display properties. You can choose resolution for each screen and scaling. Forgive my ignorance, but why do some of you chaps need 3 screens simultaneously ? Can you give some examples please ?
I've got 5, and it's less about need, and more about how many I just had in the loft Vs how many I could actually drive.I could work off 2 comfortably.

I’m just using a laptop at the moment. Looking for two monitors for work and a bit of background Sky Sports News every now and then but mainly just web based programs and Excel/Office docsWork out your desired size and resolution, and then start looking for a particular monitor.

I am sure I could do far more with three screens were I not such a luddite.

My thrown together setup for my 9-5 job:
HP laptop, connected via one thunderbolt cable to a dockcase MacBook charger, this connects to my Keyboard, headset and LG 4k 27” monitor on a arm.
For my freelance video work I swap in my MacBook connected to the same cable, but add in cables to my thunderbolt raid and Ethernet cable for my hacked 1.1 Mac Pro full of 6 hard drives that I use for long term storage synced with backblaze.
Bit of a wild setup that needs to work with three Mac/PC systems on a budget. Oh and there is a set of cheap Wharfdale speakers and Marantz Amplifer connected to an echo dot for some tunes.

Thanks - very obvious now you mention it. I have obviously been in that screen before when setting up but I’d never used scaling - I’ve managed to up the resolution and use scaling to keep everything at a legible size. Thanks for the tip!I've just got a new job and the office isn't opening until 2021 (and I'll be two days in / three WFH even then), so we are reviving a semi converted loft for me as an office. The previous owners had it as a bedroom but we've used it as a loft. What started out as a quick tidy up has now progressed into a complete redecorate and kit out.
The plan is to fit a cover over the loft hatch so the floor is flat when I'm in there. Re-plaster, paint, new lighting, ethernet down to the router in the living room, new wiring, some feature shelves either side of the chimney, blinds, and new furniture (desk, TV cabinet, easy chair, desk chair). I'll add photos once it has been finished, but the first purchases have been these:
https://www.2ndhnd.com/collections/task-chairs/pro...
https://www.lg.com/uk/monitors/lg-38WK95C
https://www.keyboardco.com/keyboard/ultra-classic-... (unsure about this, going to give it a go and see)
Thanks to those on here who have posted; I'm really interested in what people are doing with their home working environments and am taking inspiration from them!

I'd be curious to see how hot it gets in there this summer, TBH.
I know what you mean, but unfortunately it is the only room that is available! I'm going to get blinds to keep the sun out, veluxes will open if needed, and I've got a Dyson desk fan, but it might be warm! It is insulated but I dont know how well as we didn't do it. ZesPak said:

Nice, looks like a big arm holding up that monitor.Couple of questions:
- Seems odd to have the laptop elevated and then use the screen as a duplicate rather than a second screen?
- What kind of software is the colour coding on the keyboard for?
