329 is already a clearance price for the XL. It was 469 originally and then 399. I know this as I bought the 3a standard edition for 329 for the wife about 7 months ago. I don't think think you'll get a better price on the XL, but who knows.

I'd get it now while price is low.
Think I'll just wait until Monday - seen in a couple of places that it's the next "possible" 4a announcement date - it's be just my luck to miss the new version by 24 or 48 hours... and then it'd be cheaper, too! wink
There was speculation that the 4a was going to undercut the price of the new iphone SE - equally there is speculation it won't be released at all due to the 5 being due for release in October. Or it could be unveiled on August 3rd (latest rumour!)
If you can I'd say to wait it out, the 4a will be more up to date/last longer/get longer updates than the 3a (4a is rumoured to have 6gb ram and UFS2.1 storage versus the 3a's 4gb and eMMC storage) The 3a is a very good phone but I feel it is overpriced now, even at the much reduced cost from release price.

Too late! 3a XL delivered same day from Argos, although I'm waiting on sim/case/screen protector before I start to use it.
The 3a still has the best part of 2 years of updates coming as a minimum and with the 4a release heading ever backwards, I spent the morning reading more reviews then took the plunge.
I can't imagine that any phone in the price range I started with (which is more-or-less my monthly discretionary budget) will be terrible and I'll have forgotten that little £30 over by the end of the month wink

Thanks for the pointers folks, especially ukfan for the Argos tip thumbup

Son was in the same position with his G6 Play and clearing cache and factory resets achieved nothing.

Was hanging on to see if the 4a appeared but have ordered a 3a XL for him today, also from Argos. Spotted this pricing late last week but was resisting until today to see if the 4a arrived. Means he has to have a white one as the black now out of stock.

You'll love the 3a XL. I got the smaller 3a a few months ago and it is overall the best phone I have had, coming from very expensive phones.

Really quick overall, incredible battery life for the size, the camera is one of the best around and the creen is also really good.

I had reservations as some said they slow down lots after a month or two, but mine hasn't slowed down whatsoever after what must be 3 months by now, maybe more.

Looking at getting a 3a/3a XL for my partner now too.

Personally I think the Pixel 3a XL looks ancient because of the large bezels at the top and bottom of the screen. As for the iPhone SE, if you are used to a decent sized android phone, it will look and feel like a child's toy in comparison.

Personally I would get the OPPO Reno 2Z from Carphone Warehouse for £249.99

6.5 Inch AMOLED screen
No notch
128GB Storage
8GB Ram

The bezels don't bother me in the slightest (or my son who the phone is for) and he would have been equally happy with the smaller SE. I'd have preferred the SE as it would integrate more smoothly with our other Apple kit and subs but for a phone that will spend time at school, the £90 saving swung it.

Don't know why but the only thing he didn't want was anything from Nokia.
