Regarding the screen size
For the ‘home screen’ & most apps, if you swipe down at the bottom of screen, it brings the top into thumb range.
Works well enough for me
Yes, I've used it before. IMO, it's not an elegant solution, and adds another superfluous gesture to whatever you want to do.

I’ve replaced the top apps on the home with a large reminders widget.

That way I get to see everything I need to do today, and all the main apps are easily reached below.

Looks like it's near impossible to repair the 12 outside of Apple, even with genuine parts...
Best get a decent case and screen protector...

Got a 12 and a Pro in at work to play with today. Biggest thing I noticed is the lack of heft in the 12 Pro, much lighter than the 11 Pro.

Not sure about the return to the iPhone 5-style, means a lot bigger feel in the hand. Perhaps that contributes to the 'less dense' perception?

I'm hoping the 12 will make the user less dense.... what are the chances?

XR at £499 , bit of a relative bargain and an excellent phone to boot.
I called my provider, O2, about the Apple XR offer and they said they could do it for £419.00 with 0 % interest - so basically £17.45 a month
for two years, plus my airtime plan - I thought that was a bargain and signed up.

I bought myself a series 6 Apple Watch today. I went for the red version, as I believe there’s a charity donation attached to that one. I’m up for an iPhone 12 pro max as well, but that’s not available for a week yet. A WEEK, A WHOLE WEEK, DAMN IT TO HELL, I’LL PROBABLY HAVE TO SIT IN THE HUMAN CESS PITT THAT IS EVERY APPLE STORE I’VE EVER HAD THE MISFORTUNE TO GO TO or I could just order on line, but I’d be doing myself out of all of those Harrods reward points /first world problems.

Very noble going for the red one, but I doubt Apple will be donating more than a few cents on its purchase price to a good cause.

However, amid the COVID-19 pandemic, Apple said this new program will “provide critical support in health systems” that are impacted by the novel coronavirus. In 2018, Apple said it had raised $200 million for Product Red and that it was the organization's largest corporate donor.”

I am waiting for a 12 pro 128 GB Graphite. It was ordered on 19th October at 15.15.

I ordered at 2pm on 16th October........
Mine is on route, due to be delivered on Monday. The clues were the date for anticipated delivery disappeared off Track Your Order and it changed to order confirmed. Then today I get an email about an Esim and how to trade in my phone.

I then checked the Track Order page which gives the information on delivery. They haven’t emailed or texted me the delivery info yet

But trading in can come with benefits. I traded in my phone 7 with Apple after sorting it out online as part of my iPhone 12 pre-order, and I told them it was in perfect condition, they offered me £90. In truth, the lightning port was broken meaning it wouldn't charge. They accepted my phone as being in the condition I had said, and credited my iPhone 12 finance agreement accordingly.

I would never dared try to sell my iPhone 7 privately knowing it was faulty, and probably wouldn't have got much for it if I had.
Was that an in store trade in? I didn’t think Apple were offering that at the moment.
No, I set it all up online as part of my pre order.
I chose the option for my iPhone 7 being in great condition and to hand it in at the store instead od posting it. They quoted me £90.
I handed it in at the Apple store when collecting my iPhone 12 but the sales girl didn't inspect it. If they had later decided that it was in poor condition then I reckon the email I got afterwards would have stated a price reduction.
Thankfully the must not have checked the lightning port.

The things I've wished for with every new iPhone release, and never received..

A larger digital clock display at the top of the phone. I can't read it with my eyesight so I've had to create an analog clock widget. Anyone know of a larger digital display clock app?

Mobile Data - the list of apps that are/aren't using mobile data always confuses me as it's not in any particular order. Why can't it be alphabetical, or maybe have all the Apple apps at the top of the list then everything else listed alphabetically?

I bitterly wish Apple would give us a dedicated notification led - and before anyone says it, yes, I know about the flash. It's a st idea.

Now that all phones are OLED, there's no reason not to have an always-on display for notifications etc.

That's interesting - and obviously worrying too. Many will want to have their phones repaired (screens, new batteries etc) - and not go to Apple to have that done.

But compared to the X it feels a lot heavier (for about a day and then you forget)

Anybody else holding out for the iPhone 12 mini? I haven’t looked forward to a new phone like this since the iPhone 5, I think the mini will be great.

Apart from it fitting into your pocket better than the larger iPhones, why?
