Yep. And people like me will buy them - it's one of my little luxuries in life to have the latest iPhone. But I agree that the features on an upgrade can be a bit thin.

I have an almost unused and boxed iPhone X sitting at home that I couldn't sell when I upgraded to the 11 - a bit annoying. Maybe it will become a collectors item? smile
Hi NDA, how much are you looking for, for the X?
No idea really.... PM me maybe?

I'll be trading in my 7 for the new 12, regardless of what features it has or hasn't got. I just fancy a new iPhone and there should be a reasonable jump in spec/features compared to my 7.

Do Apple still do the Upgrade programme? If not I'll buy it on their 24 month plan.

It’ll be dead by the morning even if I shut all apps, locations etc off.

Edit: Happy for a fix but i'm very confident that the new battery is a good un.

Think I'll have to upgrade to the 12 at some point, I'm still using an iPhone 8 that I've had for nearly 3 years. I will try and hold off for another year, but I don't think this battery will make it, it's almost a year old and will probably be totally fked in 6 months time. It's either replace the battery for a 2nd time or just buy a new phone.

I reckon a new Apple fitted battery will solve your problem.

Yeah I went for a new battery last year, they cracked my screen and ended up giving me a new iPhone. It's just quite old tech now, not sure whether I want to pay £700 for a new phone though, it's still easy to use on a day to day basis.

Hmmm. How could I weaken my screen before taking it in? scratchchin

iPhone 4 was an iconic design and the best looking iPhone IMHO (last of Jobs' iPhones).

The 4 also fitted neatly into my shirt pocket which could still be buttoned closed. Much less chance of it getting stolen.

If the iPhone 12 has 5G, then it’ll be worth upgrading for 5G alone.

To increase your download speed many times over just by getting a new handset is a pretty big functional upgrade.

And for those who think they don’t need 5G - given file sizes only ever go up and apps and features will require ever more bandwidth - 4G will soon seem as inadequate as 3G.
IMO that won't happen for another few years. I have 5g on my phone now and only get it when in London. It is nice to have but no where near essential. 4g is perfectly fine unless you are transferring large video files on a regular basis. Even with 4g videos stream with no buffering and if you are going to move files for editing on a desktop then you can't beat a usb stick.

If you are upgrading to the iPhone 12 just for 5g if it has it then you'll be very disappointed.
If they just made the 4g coverage better we would be getting close to 100Mbps (faster than most peoples broadband).

Just saying "its 5G" is useless unless the infrastructure is adequate.

Looks like your replacement battery could well be a dud. Official or 3rd party?

It’s looking like the new iPhone will be launched alongside IOS 14 which will curb advertising revenues for app developers. Apparently users will have to consent to allow them to be tracked.

Was it actually dead or did it just show 1%? My 7 has a habit of showing the battery at 1% then lasting ages, and sometimes it will drop down by a % every 10 seconds or so as I'm using it until it gets to 1% then just sits there.
Here's the battery use from the other day, we were in a restaurant, phone locked and on silent at about 50% battery. Checked my phone and it was at 1%, looking at the graph it went from 50 to 1 in no time at all even though it was just sat there...

Original battery, capacity is now at 69%, hoping it holds out until the 12 is released...

Wow! My phone was a nightmare when the battery capacity was at 84%, it wouldn't even last through a nightshift, I can't imagine what having 69 is like.

  • awaits 69 joke*
You must have to charge that overnight and then in the day too? If you even use the phone lightly throughout the day it'll drop pretty quickly.
