Ah, I wasn't surprised so much at the number of people in the Samsung store, I was rather surprised that you'd be amazed at that.

Apple is far, far more popular in phones, tablets and laptops smile

The Fold is an interesting device, but staggeringly expensive and I think it needs a few more iterations to get right. Also, and obviously this is all just imo, but I find that Android just isn't as nice in a tablet form factor as iOS. And I say that as someone who uses an Android phone and likes it, I'm not an Apple fan boi biggrin
I didn’t get to play with it long enough to form an opinion on Android v IOS. Agree it’s very expensive though.

What about the 12 mini? When is that being released? How much will it cost?
You may have the answers this evening.

Found a case.................

https://extreme-edition.co.uk/product/iphone-11-tu...

Just need to decide what size hehe
Is that a spoof site?
"TURBO EDITION IS AERODYNAMIC
The cutting edge Aerodynamic architecture provides unparalleled cooling performance and allows the bumper to distribute heat away from the iphone 12 Case more rapidly."
hehe
That does sound rather dubious. I could do with a cooling case if such a thing existed though. That way I might be able to use the charging tray in my car without cooking my iPhone.

12 Mini for me, just what I was hoping for. Wonder when they’ll start delivery?

Just read that all iphones outside the US are getting the crappier 5G. Typical Apple bks.
Two types of 5G?

I paid £1149 for my iPhone X 3 years ago. If I go for a 12 mini now it’s £849, so what’s missing apart from the plug?

There's mmwave and the worse one, who's name escapes me.
Sub 6 is the other type.
Thanks. I should have the chance to buy one in the USA around Christmas.

I’ve always mocked my brother for buying the Max models, he’s on the upgrade programme and gets the new one each year just to have the latest shiny thing.

The screen size on the 12 Pro Max is 6.7”, my admittedly now dated iPad Mini 2 has a screen of 7.9” which is bonkers in comparison.

However despite all that I still find myself looking at the 12 Pro pre order page. £874 once I trade in my ageing iPhone X. Hmmm
That’d be good if it included the 12 Pro which would be somewhere between the X and the Pro Max in size.

Magsafe seems like a solution looking for a problem. I've never had any issues with wireless chargers aligning and it looks like the force of the Magsafe is pretty similar to pulling a cable out but without the advantage of fast charging...
Perhaps I could use MagSafe instead of the charging pad in my car. After 20 minutes on the charge pad my iPhone X is too hot and shuts down.

My X is now three years old and still has 97% battery health. Might just wait another year.
I’m surprised. Mine is the same age and is at 78% but I do use it and charge it a lot
Not done anything special. Plug it in when driving (for CarPlay). Plug it in overnight.
Mine's at 88% which probably isn't bad for 3 years old.

I find with Iphones, you want the latest, if you dont commit in the first few months, you just think wait for the next release in a years time as its annoying getting the new one, and then having another one coming out so soon after getting it, even if realistically it doesnt really bring much benefit.
Goddamit J4CKO with your common sense. You are right though, I’ve been there before umming and aahing about getting the latest handset after it gets announced but then leaving it after a few months.

Issue this year is that my X is starting to feel long in the tooth, battery is due a replacement and since I’m spending nearly all my time indoors I feel like man maths can justify treating myself to a new handset!
That’s about right but I just know that man maths will get the better of me.

Perhaps wait for the reviews at least?

A marketing presentation always picks out the Fools Gold people.

Not saying the 12 will be bad, it should be great, but reading post after post on here it is the same old story of

"It's shiny and new, I love it"

Just wait a short time and make an informed decision.

Too much to ask?

The same can be said of the Google Pixel thread......
That’s applying logic rather than man maths. I’m sticking to the later.

I have the 11 Pro too.

Much as I would like a new gadget to enliven my locked-down existence, I can't see any benefit in going for the 12 Pro. It's barely an upgrade and a slightly worse battery life... I've heard 6GB of RAM, which would be good, but not good enough to take a £500 bath on my pristine 11.

I recall being ever so slightly underwhelmed moving from the X (which was fab) to the 11 Pro. It seemed very similar - although actually it's a better phone. But the 12 doesn't move the needle as much or enough.
Does the 12 Pro have a worse battery life?

Indeed, they are a very high-powered spying and tracking device!
Off topic but a pal of mine did some jail time after his phone was tracked. He was carrying a lot of points when he got a NIP through the post. He tried to avoid a ban by claiming his car had been nicked and he wasn’t the driver. Police tracked the phone and he was done for Perverting The Course Of Justice. Result, 3 months.

Apple only seem to be offering a postal service at the moment, no option to collect in store.

Just ordered for pick up in London next week BUT the confirmation shows my trade in going by post rather than in store. Can’t get through to Apple to change it.

Is anyone trading in their old devices in store?

Used my blue light card with Currys to get 6.5% off. Result. Hope they don't disappoint with delivery...
Cheers! I had no idea this was available, I’ll be doing the same when I get my Pro Max.
Are you able to trade in at Currys?

Does anyone know if the store demo handsets are in any of the stores yet in order to see the size? Was thinking of taking a trip to the local Apple store if so.
It’d be good to see the 12 Mini. Doubt it’s in store yet but perhaps someone will know.

I ordered then cancelled an 12 Pro as I hadn’t noticed the trade is by post rather than in store. This means that Apple or Currys or whoever have you by the ‘short & curlies’.

I once fell for that when buying a new iPad. There was nothing wrong with my trade in, it worked perfectly but Apple’s trade in agent found some fault and offered £0. At least in store you have the chance to make your case and/or drop the deal.

Surely you can just ask for it back if you don't agree with any change in valuation?
By which time you’ve opened, set up and used the new device. I speak from bitter experience.
