I’m surprised no-one could not notice a massive difference between 750x1334 led and 2532x1770 oled Super Retina.

You are kidding, right?

I went from a 6 to an 11pro and it is night and day.

  • Screen quality / colours
  • The camera is insanely better at everything
OK, surfing and phone calls would be similar...

7 to 12 Pro is a big jump, and not very subtle either.

Completely different industrial design

Vastly better screen, processor, and cameras.

I find it genuinely difficult to believe you don't notice much difference in use.

I get you might not be able to tell the difference in “speed” of the device but the camera should be night and day from your 7. The difference between my Xs and my wife’s 11 is very noticeable.

It’s hard to tell much difference between my old iPhone 11 Pro and my new 12 Pro, even my spare iPhone X gives both the newer phones a good run for their money. The X camera lacks in many ways, most notably the low light photos, and the battery is losing capacity, but it’s still a great phone to pass onto my kids.

The 12 is very snappy though, 4k HDR movies stream almost instantly, no discernible lag at all, same with the camera, very quick to open and take photos. A landscape portrait photo of Ted, he’s quite camera shy and not impressed.

Of course there are differences, which I did say, but they aren't obviously noticeable to me as they just blend into the phone...

Face ID works without you knowing its working, you just swipe up and the phone unlocks. It happens without you realising, so I don't notice it.
Larger screen, but I've now forgotten that my iPhone 7 screen was smaller so I don't think about it.
Camera will be better, but haven't really used it much yet.
App speed - haven't noticed the difference, though I accept it will be quicker.

My point is that everything 'just works' as Apple used to say. So no complaints at all.

FaceID doesn’t work with masks, but that isn’t apples fault. ;-)

Yes, it’s very inconvenient when out at the shops!

How did you guys get 12 Pro Max so early?

People are talking about the Pro, not the Pro Max.

It's not going to be good value to upgrade as it won't be much better (unless you really like 5G), but if you want to and can afford it then why not?

I’m led to believe if you set up an alternative appearance with a mask folded in half over one side of your face, it works. Haven’t tried it though.

They’ve specifically said they won’t change the way it works to allow masks because it’ll be way less secure.

Nor should they. Face recognition opens my banking and credit card apps.

Ah ok my bad sorry. Was confused when I saw 12 Pro I though this include the Max.
I was not convinced about the bigger screen size until I've tried the Max. Now I find myself using the phone more and laptop less.

Apple Watch works great for payments, just double click the button. Much quicker than the phone

Guys - hopefully some in here have experience of the various phones. I currently have an iPhone 6 but it is getting too sluggish to use regularly.

I’m not too bothered about having the latest and greatest, are any of the older models worth looking at, or are there colossal step ups in performance between them? X, XR, 11?

Price wise it seems fairly narrow between an XR/11 and a 12 which is making me think the newest is possibly the best proposition. I also prefer the design with the flat edges. Hope to keep it for a while again (as I did with my 6).

If the 12 had USB-C it would have been the ideal solution for me as I could ditch the lightening cables!!

I was responding to your point where you specifically said you don't notice much difference in use to your iPhone 7 - as were a few others.

Saying how smoothly and seamlessly it all works isn't the same thing as saying you don't notice much difference between the two phones - and hence why a few of us questioned your statement wink

MagSafe appears to be the most pointless thing ever that I can see? Who wants their wireless charger stuck to the phone? The whole point is that you put it down and pick it up again easily?

Someone explain please?

Are the paving the way for no lightning connector or port of any kind?

I think MagSafe is more to do with achieving a guaranteed alignment with the charging pad every time.

...and yes, I'd say paving the way towards ditching lightning.
