I got my shipping confirmation from Scan so shortly will be going RTX ..... at last. Pretty much two months of jumping on notifications on my phone to try to give a vendor a lot of money for a GPU and just constant non-availability. What is the world coming to?

At last, I can actually do some useful gaming on my new G9 monitor....
Glad to hear it. My friend built a python script to check the website and alert us direct to desktop and mobiles. The alert went off and he said he was on the website within seconds but nothing was available. Can you confirm what you experienced as you said it was on some sort of wave 2? Cheers

I'm still hoping for a 3080 but haven't seen an alert on those for the best part of six months, at least anywhere near MRP

Just started dabbling in some mining myself.

I have a 6800 XT which isn't the first choice - but it's a gaming PC and it trades blows with a 3080 on FPS for considerably less money.

Having fun so far - making money while I work and sleep, and the current little boom is really very nice!

Basically anyone from the first wave who fails to check out on time or cancels goes in to a second wave. It's usually anywhere from like 3-15 minutes after the first drop.

Basically the clue is that the link shows a price, but with no add to basket. That means they are in basket but not sold (i.e keep trying).

When the price goes - it's truly gone.

Of course there is usually a very small 3rd wave the next day where the cancellations roll out..

Try PartAlert - they have Telegram, Discord and Twitter.

Telegram is probably the easiest way: https://t.me/joinchat/AAAAAEii3xT81U1A6tLjrQ

Twitter is usually a couple of mins behind Telegram and Discord.

Scan are very strict with the FE drops as they try to combat bots and scalpers, so they will reject the purchase if things like credit card address info doesn't match with delivery address. They will also refuse the sale if you bought an 30x0 FE card from them before. And sometimes payment just doesn't go through because of an issue with the transaction or maybe the dreaded webpage crash - and thus the card is freed up for resale.

So effectively you have a small window of opportunity for maybe up to 15 mins where failed/rejected orders go back up for grabs. No guarantees though. You just have to keep refreshing the product pages and cross your fingers. Eventually, they take the pages down (the FE pages only go up whenever there is an FE drop in progress).

I had ordered a PC part from them a few weeks previously so all my payment details were in the system ... hence a smoother and more stable payment experience. I saw people who had borrowed a friend/family member's card for payment get refused. Also people who had the a different address on their CC to the delivery address (can happen if you move and don't bother updating address).

Card arrives tomorrow - can't wait. At £479 Nvidia are basically giving the 3070FE away for the sake of maintaining the appearance of RRP. Just take a look at eBay for the fair market value and every attempt to buy a 3rd party card from regular online vendors I tried was unsuccessful ... even at hundreds of quid more than the FE part they go instantly after the alerts go up.

Yes they definitely track IP address too. Everything needs to be unique, and no paypal!

I've ordered an entire PC with a 3080 for less than that.

My take is they don't expect to get £2,250. It says "or offers" and the seller is expecting to hoover in a bunch of offers and pick their favourite after feeling out the market.

You can definitely get a 3090 for that price, so you'd have to be batst or desperate!

I don't know what I hate the most, the price or the fact he's got the Scan receipt in the photo that will show he only paid £649 for it, yesterday.

Yeah, pretty annoying to see people flip FE cards. The Scan FE drops are just about the only hope that the average gamer has of getting one on account of them being extra-strict to try to stop bots and scalpers. Even then you have to be on the ball with responding to alerts and a little bit lucky.

On the positive side, my own 3070FE just arrived from Scan. Very impressed with the construction of the card - it's really compact but has that premium 'hefty' feel. Also really clean lines and sharp design - easily the nicest gfx card I've ever set eyes on in person.

Will swap out my long serving 1060 for it this evening ... should be quite a nice performance improvement. I have a really old (like, 2 decades old) Coolermaster ATCS case which isn't anything like as roomy inside as modern mini-towers so the 3070FE was a really good combo of size, low power/heat and performance to work in it. I think I'd have had to change my case for a 3080.

Who here is clever enough to turn that into a 3080/90?

Just buy it then claim he sent you a brick instead. Keep the card and get your cash back.

I’ve heard eBay always side with the buyer. Scalp the scalper. laugh
