Buy and flip demand is driven by REAL demand of end owners, otherwise there would be a lot of people with unsold cards..
Miners will buy as well ... at the moment, a powerful GPU is a money printing machine. Whether or not it will stay that way is another matter, likely not for long enough to make back the cost of the card if you are paying crazy prices but miners probably reckon that they can sell the card back onto the market for a good price and make a nice profit overall.

This is the way that the market works - although things look bad right now it's not beyond the realms of possibility that a few months down the line there could be a total glut of GPUs for sale if miners dump cards.
I can relate. I have 11 x 2080ti all mining at the moment sitting next to me. My point was that I didn't feel that demand was driven by flippers as the flipping model only works if there is demand at the final owner stage (be that miner or gamer).

The madness continues....even if you don't want a 3000 series and would happily go for an older product...

I bought a Radeon RX580 Sapphire Pulse 8GB on 26 March 2020 for £159.

Right now, a quick search on fleabay shows that the cheapest pre-owned one is £450 or best offer or £499 minimum if you buy it now.

How many generations behind is that? 3? Commanding that type of premium!

Un-effin-believeable. eek

I have a 1080 and a 980ti in the house.
980ti is looking at £250-300 (I paid just over £500 5 years ago).
1080FE is going for £400+

I was going to give the 980 based machine to the boy but I think he will have to buy it if he wants it!

This is daft.

Yes, triggered by China blocking all cryptocurrencies as a form of payment, after Tesla said they wouldn't accept cryptocurrencies too, it won't be the last either.

But, such is the topsy-turvy world of crypto, the crash induces a lot of selling, which means a lot more transactions on Ethereum, which means gas fees spike, which means...mining remains profitable jester

For now, anyway laugh

Asking the real questions.

They can take my cryptos, but they'll never take my 99p Flakes.

Have 99p Flakes got any smaller? I feel like they're probably shrinking along with other stuff due to Brexit or Elon or something.

Not unexpected. As someone who finally managed to get a 3070FE recently, I fully support them locking future cards smile

For them, the problem has to be that even though they can currently sell everything they can make to miners, that market won't always be there. They risk losing gaming market share to AMD which will translate into future sales on the next generation(s) of cards. It's been all but impossible to get hold of AIB cards from online retailers.

It makes sense to nurture the games market and offer separate products for mining, as they have started doing.

I do appreciate their efforts with the FE cards and Scan drops - they have been almost the only hope that gamers have of picking up an RTX30x0 GPU for months now. And even then, it's a slim hope that needs effort and luck.

Hate to say this but my mining profits up because of the crash - the fees and number of transactions increase, then you hold and once it comes back a bit earn a tidy profit from all the transactions, at least in ETH.

Currently @ £22 a day even with the value plummeting, yesterday it was £9 with the value being high.

If you ignore the £ value shown (it's linked to the BTC price) the profits are huge at the moment, my single 3090 just made 0.00015000 in 4 hours which is roughly double what it was making last week even at the high points.

Yes - in my experience mining results in terms of £ seems to be far more stable. The China state measures will act to push mining out of the country. There is already over 300MW on mining rigs in Iran, many of which are Chinese owned (albeit not without problems):

Newegg in the US have been running a lottery scheme; you sign up and chose what you want to be entered for, then they notify you if you've 'won' the chance to buy it.

I'm on my second attempt. I'll be curious to see what/when I'm successful, and for what.

There's usually some graphics card, along with g.card and mobo bundles, some CPU's, etc.
And a 6700XT turned up today, so just over a month to succeed.

Well....does anyone want an Asus TUF GAMING MOTHERBOARD B450M-PLUS II?

I've been debating building another pc based on it (and a 3200G), but with my main pc, the spare old PC with its graphics card back in, the NUC, the i3, the laptop, and a few Pi's...I've got no use at all for it.

Probably going to flog it to friends/family. At $95 retail, I was ok at buying it as a 'tax'.

I have a 2070 Super in my PC and want to upgrade to a 3080 to improve my VR performance in sim racing. What’s the best way to actually get hold of a card right now?

No, it’s not a wind up. I’m not blind to what’s going on right now, but you guys seem to be a lot better informed than me as to ways to get hold of one, hence the question.

ETA........But forget I asked, I've set up a load of stock alerts now and will just be patient waiting for one to come in stock.

At least it was something useful, some people have received PSUs that aren't powerful enough to power the GPU they get with it.

The TUF Gaming II model looks like having the same update as the B-450F Gaming II board over the original B450 boards that has the BIOS 256mb RAM from the 550 & X570 boards (double the size of previous model) that allows Ryzen 5000 support without losing support for 1000, 2000 & 3000. All that's missing is PCIe 4.0 support and no one would miss it if they didn't know they had it.

So don't sell it too cheaply.

Gaming I specs - https://www.asus.com/Motherboards-Components/Mothe...
Gaming II specs - https://www.asus.com/Motherboards-Components/Mothe...

scroll down to BIOS and see.

FYI. I have a Rog Strix B450-f Gaming II here the box came with the Ryzen 5000 ready sticker on it, the latest BIOS was already installed that supports 5000 and I put a Ryzen 2600 in it and it worked.
