I see watercooling as a labour of love
Totally agree- I went a bit mad when I decided to do my first loop and also used it as an opportunity to do a load of other stuff I was idly interested in but had never done before. Like custom CNC milled distribution plates, SLS 3D printed parts, customised fans, sleeving my own cables and a few other bits...I'd wanted to get a second 2080, mostly just to fill the system out. Probably still will when things get a bit cheaper...or just get a 3090. That said, CPU/motherboard will be the next upgrade. Most likely either 5950X or 10980XE.

FYI Scan currently have two different MSI RTX3080Ti in stock at RRPish prices. Managed to get one in my basket no issue (though I'm not actually looking to buy right now)
Stock definitely seems more available than it did 4 weeks ago. Weirdly, since I got my FE card, there’s been no new stock of them all week either in the UK or Europe (unless the Telegram group has stopped working now).RacerMike said:

25th June was the last one, there can be gaps of up to 2 weeks between drops, see the drop date list on the left.bloomen said:
That MSI 3080ti at Scan certainly makes a 3080 FE compelling if you can get one in a drop. Over £1000 cheaper, likely no need for a new case and perhaps a 5-10% performance drop.
Couldn't agree more. The base 3080 (especially one that can mine at full speed) is the best value for money for a long time. Smashes a £1000+ 2080ti out of the water and comes in at £685. Crazy good value for money compared to the others out there.A 3070 is also great value if that meets your needs. The only reason it wouldn't be attractive is if you already had a comparable 2080ti, or if you have needs for even faster or had the spare cash to justify faster.

FE cards are an entirely different thing. NVidia make small batches of them and ship them on an irregular schedule, usually about once a month for the 3070/3080/3090 and it seems less often for 3060Ti, at the official market price .. and only through Scan in the UK (with all sorts of checks to make sure you can only get one, ever). They have been the only hope for gamers to get one at the RRP for about a year now. They are not typical of general market supply/prices for AIB RTX30x0 cards, which seem to be getting better at last.
I wouldn't be surprised if NVidia cut back or even drop FEs should supply and pricing ever 'normalise' ... they were effectively giving FE cards away relative to what the market would pay to maintain the illusion of RRP. Even the 'overpriced' 3080Ti FE version goes for much less than it was fetching on the secondary market.
IMO FE cards are the ones to get unless you want to do some sort of monster overclocking. Really nicely designed and constructed and (if you are lucky to be able to buy one in a drop) available at the official RRP. Their power connectors are annoyingly non-standard but they do ship an adapter in the box at least.

I would have got a 3080FE at the drop if I could have but was lucky to be able to get a 3070FE (was a couple of mins late after the alert and managed to get one in the F5 frenzy in the 15 mins after as cards got returned to the pool from failed buys). I'd already missed getting anything on two previous drops so wasn't prepared to keep waiting around for an alert on my phone for another month.A 3070 is also great value if that meets your needs. It's a great card though and I'm really happy with it. 2080Ti level performance is not to be sniffed at and the power consumption/heat is way more manageable than the 3080 in my slightly cramped, almost two decade old case. Though I did upgrade to a 750W PSU in advance, 'just in case'.
£469 was a good price too considering the card will likely last me 2-3 years. I'd had a 1060 for four years before it, so it was quite an upgrade.
3080FE is without a doubt though, the pick of the crop in terms of bang for buck.
I also feel that the 3080 is in insane demand during the drops. I would love to know the numbers of clicks per card but having watched it for a few months, the 3080s are gone in around 45 seconds, so I feel that one gets the most demand and the hardest to secure. The 3090s definitely last another 45 seconds or so in stock.

From a mining perspective, a 3060Ti will return in around 160 days, whereas a 3080 180 days. At which point the 3080 is generating more per day and still worth more.
The remaining capital value is why I have 7 x 2080ti and 3 x 3090.The only thing about the 3080 is that going fwd it looks like it will be hard to secure ones that are not low hash rate.
I received an email from EVGA saying that my position in a queue for a 3080 has been swapped to a position for a 3080 Low Hash rate. I could swap it back to the regular 3080 but they have zero eta or expectation of them being available again.
